Matingwe Lodge Private Game Reserve

Lovely place, enjoyed everything and had great time. The staff are brilliant and the hosts Nolan and Shauna gave us an amazing experience. We had amazing game drives.

A four star rating with 5 star service, Matingwe is a really great lodge. It has game drive access to the big 5 next door and the chef prepared meals were just amazing.

Liza & Mike are the best hosts ever. The Khoeles were treated like King & Queen, from the moment we arrived. As for the candle light romantic welcome dinner it was out of this world.If you want peace and quiet, the fresh smell of nature, the melody of the singing birds and the calm ambiance. Matingwe Lodge is for you.

I was so lucky to stay at Matingwe Lodge for a weekend. The Lodge is beautifully located right next to Welgevonden National Park entrance. The farm itself has many animals on its property and you can just walk around by yourself.Marc, Angela and Willem are warm-hearted and extremely positive people that would just do anything to make your stay even more perfect. Thereby they don’t even make you feel like it’s work for them.Willem took me on two game drives to Welgevonden National Park. His knowledge about nature in general, animals and plants is incredible. I probably could go 100 times learning something new every time. We had some great sightings as well. Lion, elephant, rhino, hippo... Willem also joined me for two hikes around the farm where I just continued being amazed by his knowledge.After the afternoon game drive we were greeted with a sherry and a bonfire where we just continued sitting, talking and looking at the stars after dinner.The chef sparks is a passionate and great cook that prepares the best dinner and breakfast you can think of.If you ever get the chance, I can’t recommend enough staying at Matingwe Lodge. You will feel renewed and relaxed when you leave!Thanks Willem, Marc, Angela, Sparks and the remaining staff! You are amazing! :)

MATINGWE, the only true UTOPIA of the Bushveld. When I reminisce about our recent, far too brief, visit to this paradise, the words Bliss and Royalty comes to mind. Mike and Liza, not only went out of their way to ensure our comfort, elation, and delight, but probably unknowingly, exceeded our highest expectations. We have, through the years, travelled the entire country, stayed at 5star destinations, and had great adventures, but never experienced this level of commitment to Total Customer Satisfaction, Scrumptious cuisine, and Professionalism.Baie dankie Mike and Liza, you've hit the nail right on the head". Location: nice area with a lot of different animals. Nice walking route thru the private reserve.Lodge: super nice decorated, nice and clean. Big room with a nice terrace and a view on animals. Bathroom beautiful interior. Outside shower, inside nice tiles a bit dark in the shower but shower is super.Food: good breakfast with musli and warm breakfast. All fresh. Diner just perfect, taste delicious.Stuff: nice, friendly, open to help. The couple who is running the lodge are so friendly and helpful open to talk, etc. Game drive: 2 minutes drive to the big five reserve. Guide is so funny well connected and organized. We were a bit unlucky with the weather, but we got rain poncho, and a super guide who made the best out of it. Saw a lot of animals and learned much about the area and the animals.We felt very welcome at the lodge and will leave as friends.

What an amazing time at a really amazing place, Mike and Liza really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The Tented Campsite is very well kept and clean, and the boma which can accommodate large groups if required, is cleaned and stocked with firewood daily. You get access to a large fridge and freezer in the communal kitchenette and the bathrooms are clean and large and have hot running water. It is luxury camping without the hassle.The tents are clean and have two very comfy single beds, but you must take your own bedding and cooking utensils, after all it is supposed to be camping.
