An amazing setting with a view over the harbour. Very popular and I would recommend booking ahead. Very good service from our waitress. The food is excellent and the portions are huge. Prices are ver reasonable. Known for its fish dishes although vegetarian an meat dishes also available. Definatrly worth a visit.

Simply the best seafood platter we have ever had the pleasure of devouring. Each individual flavour was respected and celebrated instead of drowning it out in a homogeneous soup of garlic butter as so many seafood restaurants do.Although everything in the dish is absolutely beyond reproach, the whole grilled line fish and fresh local calamari made a real impression.

I had read up a lot on Chokka Block and they lived up to the great reviews. I went late afternoon before the evening rush and was fortunate to get a table without booking but from 6.30pm onwards it was full.My waiter allowed me to mix the chokka starter and recommended fried heads, fried wings and grilled rings. The heads were very tasty, the wings a little tough but the rings, well, as they say once you taste the local chokka, there's no going back to anything else. It was the most delicious I've had anywhere. Tender with a very tasty sauce made for a winning formula. I had ribs and chips for mains. Chips were okay and ribs excellent.

If you like your seafood fresh this is the place to eat. The calamari and side veggies were so good, as was the hake and calamari my husband had. The service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Snagged THE LAST open table inside WITH A VIEW FROM THE WINDOW!!!! What luck! Since it’s a fish/seafood spot, I thought the Seafood chowder looked nice. At another table, the couple ordered 2 bowls of food – the waitress confirmed 1 was the seafood chowder. Hein walked up to the lady – said, sorry to interrupt your meal – but my wife was thinking of ordering the seafood chowder – would you recommend it? Absolutely she said! First Hein thought to order a beef burger – then said: it’s a fish place, maybe the Hake Burger … when he asked our waiter, well: he started to sell Hein the Calamari …. Like a salesman! He suggested Hein have the Calamari 3 ways – with baked potato … ‘butter or sour cream, sir?’, Hein asked: both please.On the table is a wooden block – painted red on one side, green the other. Waiter explained if green is on top, all is well. If we needed anything, turn the block around and someone will help us. A plate with 2 extremely cute and small hot bread buns were placed on the table with tiny squares of (hard) butter. I haven’t eaten anything since last night, so I enjoyed both.Quite a few small groups of people walked into the restaurant – we were just in time to snag this lovely table! And it was just after 12 … loadshedding was at 1pm. Hein enjoyed an ale and I sipped a cappuccino. The food arrived. Wow! Hein’s platter was filled with battered and deep-fried sliced calamari and calamari heads, thicker sliced battered and fried calamari rings and butter-fried calamari rings – a HUGE baked potato with butter, sour cream and tartare sauce on the side. My not-so-small-as-I-thought-it-would-be dish of Seafood Chowder was creamy, boozy and filled with calamari rings, shrimps, fish cubes, small bits of bacon …. Filling and so delicious! With another 2 small bread buns.

Had our sins 21st there! Absolutely incredible. Food is divine. The special surprise bday cake at the end of the meal was not only delicious but so so much appreciated. It's personalized, memorable and the best place to ever go! Always worth a visit!

We were very fortunate to see the whales just outside the harbor, Ursula's service was excellent and we got to meet interesting locals including Harry the Hat, was an absolute pleasure. Music was great old timey rock music, atmosphere was brilliant.
