Kloofendal Nature Reserve

Lovely place to picnic and for those looking for an easy or short hike.

Went there with my partner and our son for a morning hike, we opted for the longest/most challenging one available and that is the yellow trail which is about 3.5 km. The trail is well marked and was fun to navigate with great views of the surroundings once you get to the top of the mountain, there is a map of the area at the entrance as well as various places along the route so you always knows where you are which is great if you are a 1st timer and do not know the layout of the reserve. We saw various birds as well as some antelope along the route which was a nice bonus. We had a nice family picnic after our hike on the grounds which are spacious and quite well maintained. If they can have a playground area for kids with jungle gyms, slides, swings, monkey bars etc it would be great, i believe the place is big enough to accomodate this without issue but all in all enjoyed the place and the hike, would recommend to anyone to spend atleast a day here just to get away from the hustle & bustle plus entrance is free so why not :)

It was a very beautiful and exciting experience, one that has become a go-to for me and the rest of the family. The kids enjoyed it and so did my wife and I. One thing that need to be improved in is the attitude of some of the security guards, they are condescending, rude and unethical. Beyond that, the rest of the experience was wonderful.

This is a beautiful nature reserve on the West Rand. Entrance is free so consider a donation to the Friends of Kloofendal. There are some hiking trails roughly around 2 to 3 kms in length and are relatively easy to hike. It is a great place for any avid ornithologist. The are some buck in the reserve. The Friends of Kloofendal do an amazing job of keeping the reserve in great condition for visitors. There are also open spaces for picnics and abolition facilities.

Really nice hiking trails and free entrance. Would imagine it looks much better in the summer with all the lush green grass. Nevertheless it's a nice spot for a braai.

If you are an urban hiker or a bird watcher and you have time during the week, then this is the place to visit. (It is quiet during the week). The reserve opens at 6h00 in the morning. The different routes are well marked. Although gravel paths - it is quite easy to hike.

Had a lovely hike where we even spotted a buck! Beautiful nature all around. Will be going back again soon.

We really enjoyed our hike. Beautiful and serene. Entrance is free. There is a shop and braai area. I would recommend a visit here.
