You always wait in very long queues as there are only 2, 3 at the max cashiers working. You will sadly never have a quick convenient stop just to buy bread at this Checkers.

Always properly stocked. Fresh hot foods are available from the time the doors open. The bakery is the absolute best! Friendliest assistants any time of the day. They make the best Coney rolls around. This bakery goes the extra mile over weekends to show their support to our national sports teams. Well done, always a pleasure to walk into Checkers Houtbay!

Shop revamp great but I was extremely disappointed with the inadequate use of space in front of the stores. Completely barren, poor use of public space with no purpose in mind and no greenery of any kind.

Possibly the worst run checkers of all I have ever been too. Sadly it’s the only one in Hout Bay. Will rather do my shopping in Sea Point in future. Rude staff, manager didn’t even bother with my complaint of letting staff do staff purchases at another till or another time whether on shift or off shift during peak shopping time! It’s 5pm. Stood in a que for more than 30 min waiting for staff to complete their purchases and puzzle over specials while the ques in general were ridiculously long! Very poorly managed.
