SBS Waterproof - Roof - Structural

I had a good first impression. They set up an inspection time and the guy arrive on time and was professional. The quote was a lot more expensive than other options, but they did make it sound like a lot of work was required and I am willing to pay more for a quality service.The second impression was not great. It took more than a week for them to get back to me with the quote, which would have been fine if they let me know that they were still working on it. I had to follow up to make sure it was still on their radar. Once they came back and we made the deposit it took several days to get a response from them on when they could start. I did not need a specific date, just a general idea to make sure I have someone available at home. The response, by email, finally came at 15:00 in the afternoon stating that they will start work the next day. I understand that they are weather dependent, but they left me with only a couple of hours to arrange for someone to be at home the next morning.The final impression was bad. They forgot to clean one of our gutters and luckily it was the one I could easily check. I don’t mind so much that they forgot to clean it, because I understand things like that happen and they did agree to come back and clean it. But the way they went about it is unacceptable. I emailed them about the gutter and they quickly came back and stated that it was missed and they will get in contact with me about getting the last of the work done. The next communication I got from them was the invoice for the completed work. I checked the gutter again and found that they came back while I was at work, found I was not at home, then climbed up on the roof and did the work anyway. All of this without a call or even an email. Very disconcerting to know that they accessed my property without permission.

I have used SBS on more than one occasion and I am never disappointed.This last job was a tricky one as it was an issue caused by builders taking short cuts.Ryan was upfront about what needed to be done and that it might not solve the problem but they would give it a try.His team came out did the work, we waited for the rain to check if the problem was resolved but still had a few leaks.. they came out 3 times to get to the bottom of the issue and I can say after this week’s rains we are leak free!The guys were amazing and I appreciate that Ryan and his team didn't give up

This company's customer service makes it clear that they do not need work, they are already too busy to even answer emails. I scheduled appointments for SBS to do inspections on two properties and meet each owner. After I had to follow up many times, I finally got feedback. I proposed times and was advised they only work until 15h30 in the afternoon. Got back to Charlie, asking for 15h00 on the 16th of August (a date Charlie provided). After following up everyday from 12 August (except over the weekend of course), I got no feedback. On the 16th (day of proposed inspections), Charlie got back and said sorry, the owner's times do not suit their times (even after we re-scheduled to suit SBS times). I was advised that they cannot assist - no alternative date or times provided. I was also said to contact a different company in previous correspondence if the owners cannot meet their times (so we scheduled within their working hours).SBS is not my choice of company in the first place, but the trustees' of the complex. SBS will also not be on my list of preferred contractors for any of the properties we manage. It seems like they have got enough business any way, and do not need ours!

Repair done on roof , after repairs still leaking, I had to pay extra for something else, and roof is still leaking.3 times about for warranty claim, and the issue is not sorted out- they are ignoring my emails and calls.Will have to take it up legally now

We used SBS to replace our roof. They started on the 27th of September 2021. 2 and a half months later the final touches still aren't completed and the completion certificate is still outstanding.We accepted the quote to only realise they quoted us for 54sqm of insulation for our garage which does not make sense. My husband paid the full amount in advance. Once we saw all the extra sheeting leftover and asked about it the sales guy tried to say they delivered extra... Instead of being honest that he quote us wrong and that they need to refund us.We are still waiting for them to refund us the money which is about R8000. After 2 months they want our banking details, but don't want to say how much the refund will be.There seemed to have been drama as per Ryan about an electrical cable which was below our facia board... No one made us aware of this until we got upset about the lack of communication and not seeing much being done. Just to be told by Ryan on the rare occasion he popped up that our situation is the talk of the office. No one spoke to is about it.They got in an electrician to sort out the issue. Didn't ask us if we would like to get our own people to do this as no COC was provided to show that these guys did it above board.Spoke to the electrician and his guys on the day, they said the bill will be about R1500 and then SBS sends us a bill for almost double. Is this to make the refund price less?When you contact them they don't get back to you.Maybe after this review they will suddenly come and finish.Ps the gutter down pipes are all loose, they step and bend the brand new roof sheets, they grind and cut the sheets on top of the roof and leave the shavings there which caused the brand new sheets to get mini rust marks after a week, they burned the fibre cable while doing the blow torch waterproofing after they were asked to be careful of just this one cable, they put the gutters up without an angle and when queried said it is ok, it didn't run away and we had to demonstrate before it was fixed ,they leave a mess in your yard, left small blocks with nails everywhere and last but not least the gut into the old roof sheets which we didn't replace.Final verdict, material they use are great, but they are terrible and the people who work for them are not recommended.

After several attempts with other service providers, we finally settled with SBS and they came in, did an assessment of the current roofing structure, proposed a solution which has been in place now for 2 years without any leaks or issues, compared to what we had previously

First impressions were good. A detailed report of repairs needed was provided. Full amount paid in advance > 100 kRoof repairs and refurbishment appeared to be done well except for missing a broken tile.Concrete deck stripped , waterproofed and tiled.Work proceeded with little or no supervision. Grouting and sealing around a sliding door was left incomplete after tiling resulting in extensive water damage from flood during first rains. Bamboo flooring damage of R20 k. Ample photographic evidence. Their immediate response was to blame it on the sliding door and that the terms and conditions exclude any damage to property. The particular sliding door had never leaked in 25 years. They promptly sent out a worker to complete the grouting and he himself was very surprised by the shoddy workmanshipFurthermore they damaged the supporting beam on the deck resulting instability of the fence. This they agreed to have repaired at their cost by using a third party contractor who, as of the time of writing informs us that he has not been paid.One for Ryan - please have the courtesy of introducing yourself when entering the property.Ryan and Jaryd you spend your time shying away from responsibility, not responding to emails and failing to provide supervision of your work - and no - rarely was the foreman on site.I would advise the general public to steer clear of SBS.

Great service and work done by Ryan and his team from SBS Waterproofing for the renovations and repairs to both balcony and roof. Went way and beyond to get this massive/difficult project done before the December holidays which they accomplished as promised. If we had any concerns about anything someone was here immediately to sort it out. Job was completed as required and the end result is phenomenal. Will definitely refer them to anyone needing waterproofing/repairs done at their house or company.

I found the company, representatives and systems to be very professional. A number of the staff and owners have more than 15 years with the company, which brings a wealth experience and know how. They will take on any job, large or small.SBS repaired a leak in my house's roof valley, which was unsuccessfully repaired twice before SBS came to our rescue. Their on site team was polite, knowledgably and worked with military precision.I highly recommend this company.
