Botanicum Cafe & Grill Constantia
This restuarant has a lovely warm feeling. Sunlight is allowed to flood the open space of the inner restuarant. There, sophisticated lamps and wall lighting send there owns rays through the room, landing softly on the leaves and vines of living indoor plants. Nostalgicoldworld artworks of botanical drawings and paintings, beautifully framed are suspended on the walls. Service is quick, excellent and friendly. My charcoal grilled and fresh cut ribeye steak was tender, marbled and deliciously flavoursome. The cream spinach was probably the best I have had. Freshly made - no defrosting vegetable boxes here. My partner's homemade Linguine, had a truly delicious Napoletana style sauce with a healthy bite of chili. Really good. The unfortunate timing, meant that the restuarant was resetting their tables after having hosted a seemingly very successful birthday event. This meant the peace and calm of the space was disrupted by moving tables and chairs occasionally screeching across the floors, as they were carried and dragged back to their original spaces. That aside, this was an excellent meal and I would gladly return, possibly to taste more of the great craft beers they have on tap or the lovely wines they stock. They also have an electric stairlift, and a designated bathroom for disabled persons.

Brought some international collaborators for dinner in Nov 2022 and it was excellent, but went for breakfast last weekend and it was a mess.Booking for 5 but only had a table for 4 with an extra chair stuck on which made it very cluttered, staff not super-responsive and got 2 of the 5 breakfast orders wrong. Everything was slow even though they were not busy. And breakfast is expensive for what you get.Hesitant to try a 3rd time, will definitely be a Plan B instead of a go to.

I called to book and asked if they had an area for dogs, the person who answered the phone said yes. It’s under cover and there are heaters.Heaters weren’t working, yes it’s under cover- no music, no outside ambiance. ( was freezing)Food presentation is great. Chicken burger tasted like crumbs had been deep fried in oil that had been used with fish. My veg salad needs attention- kale was soggy and too much dressing. ( a few tweaks and it would be great) veg wrap was lovely.Bathroom didn’t have sanitizerInside area seems cozy. Service was great! Highly recommend our waiter.

Restaurant Week October 2022: What a disappointment. Booked for late lunch. Announced myself as the person who made a reservation and yet was given ordinary menus. Waiter seemed like he just graduated from a Spur. Restaurant was relatively empty. Food was below average for Restaurant week. Wine was good. They charge for “tap” water by the bottle. We know this as they billed for bottled water and filtered water (rectified on bill on request) .The starter was good,Salmon Trout. The mains were really bad. Both ordered the same. Very tough rump steak with worn down, bulky wood handled steak knives. The potato chips tasted like the mash potatoes type were used. The ultimate disappointment was the dried out Chocolate Tart, clearly shrunken away from the edges. To top it, with sour Chantilly cream. I haven’t felt this disappointed to part with my hard earned money in a while. They compensated with on the house coffee. I expected more from this restaurant especially as it has an affiliation with another well rated Botanicum, the location (Constantia) and the proximity of Groot Constantia.

I totally love the setting. I came here in a nice warm evening and sat outside. It’s definitely a gem of a place! I enjoyed my dinner and dessert even more :).

We were there two times and very happy with the food and very nice service. Prices are good. Everything is worth the money. The calamari as starter is my favorite. We tried Pizza (good) and the fillet steak for 260 ZAR. Perfect! Only weakness are the french fries. They are not cross enough. We were two adults, had starter, one Pizza, one fillet steak, two beer and two wine andere paid below 1000 ZAR. We will come back:-)

Great staff..everything that I've eaten there has been excellent..Looking around pizza is favored...great sour dough pizza. I had 3 in the period of 3 days..lol

Lovely little spot situated in Constantia. The food is absolutely delicious and there is a large variety to select from. The service was a bit slow (not enough waiters on the floor) but the staff still did their best and always had a smile on their faces. This is a pet-friendly restaurant, and furbabies are welcomed to sit outside in the shade or under the canopies

Absolutely excellent, reasonably priced, pet friendly outside with heaters for warmth. We had lunch there 22 June and went back for dinner the next day. All staff were so accomodating, super fast and wonderfully friendly. We left Botanicum incredibly satisfied with our experience, I wish I didn't live 1600kms away so I could eat there everyday. Thank You all so much

We were sitting with our plates for 20 mins after we finished our meals, nobody came to take them away until I called a random waiter. She came and took plates, but left a dirty napkin on a table. I asked for espresso and a glass of water with it, so she brought a glass of tap water.. The worst service ever in Cape Town for me
