Great service and all you need at the best prices

Large variety of books but very disorganised and no clear signage on shelves. Feels very jumbled, like a charity shop. Very few prices on books. Had to listen to manager (at the top of her voice) giving staff the run down of the employment act about how long lunch, tea, smoke breaks are.

What a lovely friendly place. Not only reading books they sell but schoolbooks and second hand books. Go look for all gr 8 till gr 11 school study guides and learning books.

Thank you to the amazing person who assisted me. After searching days for a specific textbook, I was able to find it here! They were able to keep my book aside and I was able to collect it the next day, without any hassles! Great service and a great variety of books!

The staff was extremely unfriendly and not helpful at all. When I contacted them to ask if they would buy my second hand books and they said yes. I provided the names of my books so that they could check if it was on their system, again they said yes. My father and I drove all the way from our home to Town and when we got there, the woman behind the counter first shouted at us to exit the store and wait until their previous customers exits, 4 people are allowed in the store, there was only one. When I got to the counter, the staff rudely told me that they won't accept my books because it is not on the system, when they previously stated that it was. I went there with 12 different university textbooks and left with all 12 textbooks. Their service was not good, I am quite disappointed.

Great service. I called ahead. The assistant took my number to check the condition of the 2nd hand book and called me back when she was satisfied. When I collected to other assistant allowed us time to check that. It was the correct book. Thanks for kind, efficient and friendly staff

Del was so amazing today. I can only wish my staff were as competent and attentive as her. My order back to school order was filled with ease. I will always go back. Such amazing service delivery.

I don't know what has happened at Protea Books. I used to receive excellent service and prompt email response for ordering school textbooks.Now I have sent repeated emails over the past 2 weeks, with no response. When I called today the lady said they are too busy serving customers and don't open emails, that I must come in to store. What kind of business can operate like that with no admin person for emails?

I always preferred to buy my books at Protea Bookshop, particularly their branch in Parow but it seems the customer service has gone completely down hill since that branch has closed.Last week Wednesday I take my prescribed book list to the store, the lady on duty cannot help me at that time (despite there being no other customers in the store, and it was not load shedding), so she asks for my list and contact details that she can send me a quotation. I give all of this to her - she tells me I can expect the quote the next day.I wait until Monday for the quote, no bueno, at which point I call the store. The person on duty at that point has no idea of what I am talking and asks me to email the list and she will send me a quote back immediately.It is now Thursday, I call once more, different person on duty again, says she cannot help with any quotes if I do not know the names of the people I spoke to, she also cannot access the computer because of Load shedding (which I understand, electronics are the downfall of us all these days). I ask her to take down my number to call me back once they have power.She proceeds to tell me that she will forget to call and I should just call back again.I have BEEN calling and following up.At this point I'll order my textbooks off Takealot, at least they deliver as well.
