I have known West since 2000. He is the most incredible, warm hearted, friendly South African ranger you can meet.And funny!! :-)We walked with the lions, two 13 month old white young lionesses. They were raised by West and his wife Gil and live in his home, now in the back, since they have been growing!He got incredible feeling interacting and taking care of these animals as well as his customers.For every one concerned, West will keep his two lion girls forever. Just stop by and see, they are his children". We were blown away by being so close to them

I don't have enough words to describe, very nice and comfortable place to stay, the staff were like a family, the owner was taking care about all the time, the chef prepared an special vegetarian dishes just for me and the food there it's just amazing, you have to try that. Caroline the manager prepared all the tours for the 5 days, she was taking care about every detail. My heart was a little sad when I have to leave, I definitely will go back and stay there again. Lion Tree it's a very good option to stay close to the Kruger Park in South Africa.

Don't let the 2-star hotel rating fool you, this place has a 5-star service and location. Drive a vehicle with high clearance as the road can be a challenge for sedans. The tents are spacious, and match the photos for bedroom area and large bathrooms. Brian and Lynn are wonderful hosts and have developed a great experience. Donald provides a great walking tour where you can see amazing animals on the reserve. Chef and Mumsie(?) provide great dinners each night truly put a lot of love in making the food. Well worth the drive.

Lion Tree Top Lodge
Stayed in 2017 when the lions were about two years old and the lodge was just getting started. Sad to hear that West was killed by the lions yesterday Aug 26th 2020. Suppose this will be the end of the lodge. West loved those lions and if he had to go out this would probably be the way he would choose to go.

Lion Tree Top Lodge
After a 15 km road trip on gravel roads, this place opens up like something out of a Tarzan movie. Cabins in trees, lions in the backyard, Buffaloes beneath your treelodge. Amazing hosts West and Jill greets you and you are embraced by the most fantastic staff. Dinner around a campfire and stories from a long life in South Africa to flow freely over the cold beer or wine, accompanying the delicious food.

Wonderful place! We spent our last night in S.A at Lion Tree Top Lodge. So friendly and caring hosts, an amazing lodge with an accomodation way better than the pictures at website. The care of lion are impressing as well. We can highly recommend a visit at Lion Top Tree Lodge.

West and Gill were superb hosts! Nomvula (the resident chef) was amazing. The food was lovely. Would definitely stay here again.
