Ocean Basket Southgate Mall (Halaal)

Nhlanhla gave us the best customer service, she made us feel comfortable eating inside the restaurant.

(If one could give a zero rating, one would definitely give Ocean Basket South Gate a zero)1. The rubbery Seafood order had no flavour,not even a pinch of salt.2.The 'Platter for 1' was burnt (at least Ocean Basket South Gate was kind enough to burn most of the rubbery seafood just to create a bit of flavour).3. Seafood was so horrendous one feared eating the Mussels (considering the dangers of consuming badly prepared mussels)4. The 2x 200g hake add ons were tasteless, rubbery, chewy and tough like a ameature first attempt at biltong making.5. Never in my many years of existence have I ever thought it would be possible to transform seafood into over cooked 'wheel and tyre' masquerading as beef.6. The seafood was so horrible eating ones belt, tyre from ones car or/and death from hunger would have been a better and healthier decision7. What Ocean Basket South Gate has done to seafood is so impossible and unnatural, there is no way one would not question their sanity. (There is no way seafood can be so bad)8. Seriously, there is no way seafood can exist in such a ground breaking state of horribleness unless one had forcefully walked, defying all natural laws of existence, into an alternative Dimension where horrible seafood is the standard.Do not attempt to rectifying/fixing Ocean Basket South Gate, it's to far gone!!!closing the franchise will also not work, instead:#SUGGEST SOLUTION 1=CALL AN EXORCIST (THERE IS NO WAY AN EVIL ENTITY OR A DEMON IS NOT RESPOSIBLE FOR SUCH A ABOMINATION)#SUGGEST SOLUTION 2=BURN DOWN ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT IS/RELATED TO OCEAN BASKET SOUTH GATE FRANCHISE.

Spacious seating, in a more quiet area of the Southgate Mall food court. The fish was delicious and I had vegetables with my grilled fish. Butter lemon sauce was served with my dish. The apple mint drink was rather sweet and not really so tasty for the price of the jug

I had to stop here for my kids as they were hungry during our shopping. The place is halaal, but the service was not up to standard as the staff were more interested in chatting away to each other rather than checking in customers or even noticing that they were being called. When asked about their chips portion size, the response was that there was just 1 which was small (this is a lie and the portion is generous and this was to get the customer to spend on 2 portions instead of 1). The waiter could see my kids are very small, and 1 portion from them was more than enough to go between 2 kids with wastage. They also served expired juice which I brought to the managers attention who graciously did not charge for the item and promised to review the entire batch (which is the main reason I pointed it out). The chips were enjoyed by my kids. Overall, I'm not happy with the staff service we had received from the place.

Horrible food. We bought takeaways. We asked that our platter be fried but it was grilled and dry. The rice was starting to go off and chips were old. Never buying at this Ocean Basket ever again, especially not takeaways.

It was really nice being at Ocean Basket, plus it was my first time trying sushi there, so it was a great experience

We had a nice Fish and Calamari lunch, it was nicely cooked and tasted very nice.We were served by a very friendly and energetic person by the name of Alungile. She was very bubbly

Served by Toka at Southgate's branch. Attentive and friendly. Hope he goes far in life. 5 stars to him.But 1 star for the food. It was not good. Had the same meal at a different branch, it was good. Eating it at Southgate gave me a trips to the toilet. So I doubt I'll be returning.

Got to the resturant no one sat me down, no one bothered to great or show me where to sit. I sat on a table full paper and menus and still no one bothered to say anything. A number of other groups were sat down and served. I wouldn't even say it was because of my appearance because i look fairly descent. A few ladies even came and stood behind me to gossip about clients and tables they were helping. A Buhle stood behind me for a while longer than everyone. Eventually got assisted by Rasta after i explained, i will review the place as i waited.Review was done before the food came.
