Pretoria, South Africa: Excellent restaurant. Had Sole Meuniere. Tasted really good. I started with a mussel soup and it was good as well. Staff was very courteous. Highly recommended.

Hillside used to be one of our favourites. Lovely atmosphere, good size portions, great variety, tasty meals, decent prices and great service. However on Sunday we were disappointed. The food portions in relation to the prices are small, lack side offers and some of the food was overdone. We waited for 45mins after finishing drinks for our meal and when it arrived some of the food was cold. The waiters or owner did not check on us after the first round of drinks. The prices compare to some of the really elite restaurants in town who do a better job. We really love the atmosphere. Maybe it was just that they had too few waiters or were short of hands in the kitchen for the Sunday lunch?

We are really glad that we found this restaurant. It turned out to be the best dining experience we have had in a long time.We were seated at a table that was private and quiet. It was blissful to have a peaceful dining experience with relaxing, unintrusive background music.The waiters were attentive and efficient throughout.We had a mussels and a shrimp starter. Both were delicious. Our main courses were Rib Eye Steak and Veal. Both were excellent.The menu is really extensive. There are many dishes that we would still like to try, so we will be back for more.We were of the opinion that the meals are reasonably priced. Even more so if you take into account that this is a fine dining establishment.Keep up the good work.

Wow Wow Wow! This place is an absolute gem! When you walk in, this nice, relaxed yet elegant vibe takes over as you are met by very friendly staff to show you your table. The food is absolutely amazing, and the wide variety is definitely a show stopper. I would definitely recommend this place if you want great service and amazing food while sitting with the best atmosphere around you!

We had a family meal at Hillside Tavern recently and we enjoyed it so much!! The menu has many delectable choices and it is so difficult to pick one! All the food that we ordered, was so well prepared, presented and served. Steaks were prepared as ordered, veggies were served as requested. Our waitress was well-informed, well-spoken and did her job to perfection. We love the atmosphere, decor and the nooks and crannies that prevents the restaurant from feeling crowded. This was our third visit to Hillside. The whole experience at Hillside is top notch and we can definitely recommend this establishment for a great meal and wonderful dining adventure. Sadly we were enjoying the whole experience so much, we forgot to take any pictures!! Well done Hillside Tavern and staff!!

Looked this place up and expected fine dining at fine dining prices. I was pleasantly surprised because this restaurant has fine dining on a budget and I couldn’t ask for more. The crumbled mushrooms were very good and the beef trinchando is a must try. Reservations are highly recommended, I didn’t have one but showed up early enough that there was still room. I would come back.

It was my Husbands birthday last night and I know he was in the mood for a good piece of steak he was excited to see that they had a pepper crusted option. He ordered 2 steaks because the biggest steak option was 270g and he ordered medium to well done. When it came it was super dry and the sauce was tasteless, it was advertised as pepper corn crusted but there was no pepper corn in sight . The table next to us the gentleman ordered the Trinchado he asked if he can have bread instead of the starch available and instead of making a plan the waitress simply just said no. We heard a lot of No's last night instead of actually trying to accommodate. I felt disappointed in myself for suggesting this place to my Husband.
