Quaint little bookstore that has never failed to provide me with exactly what I required. They specialise in university textbooks, but does have a decent selection of other material. They have a great stationary selection and a host of helpful staff members. They sell Magic the Gathering cards (at prices comparable to online stores) and host events on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Has it all. For the geek, artist, book worm and academic. There is something for everyone. Friendly staff that go out of their way to help and assist you. Events are often and everyone is always welcome. Their prices are also excellent. Can't imagine getting it anywhere for a better price. My go to for all my needs!

Great bookstore. Great place to get Board Games, TCG stock and accessories. One of my favourite MtG spots! Staff are always willing to help, and they are really friendly.

I have bought and ordered books there before, and attended book releases there. Very happy with the service I got.

Its ok (ish) books are not very well placed in their correct order but still i would go back.

I always love to go here for my textbooks and stationery needs, it's super close to the university, so I can always stop there if I need something.

I rather enjoyed this place, the had a large variety of books and many other things, such as journals, pencils, pens, erasers and many other stationary suitable to all needs. They did also have a couple of board games and other card games, such as Magic the Gathering which is the main reason I did come here. They had a decent little variety, and it was quite nice that there was a discount on almost everything except there was not too much choice regarding some things, they did have some variety with the books and stationary but not when it came to the board games. But otherwise, no complaints.

Really promising bookstore, with almost all aspects nailed when refering to the quantity and quality of books available.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, especially for university students in search of immediate results and high expectations in the department of customer support.My experience:From twice the visitation experiences on a yearly period (for 5 years), the Protea Bookstore very reliable when ordering books, or waiting for books to arrive (they have always called to reassure or inform the arrival of preferred books)A guaranteed 5 star rating would have been issued if there was more involvement of floor staff guiding customers for a speedy and well-rounded face to face customer service.

Definitely a good bookstore, especially for NWU students, and readers of Afrikaans books, but it still fulfils the functions of a regular bookstore. There are sometimes issues with books being in stock, but that usually isn’t a big problem.

Staff is friendly and willing to help with any request a customer ask for regarding books. Hey have a wide variety of books to pick and choose from, especially for study material for varsity. The staff at the tills are unfriendly but otherwise a great bookshop.
