Wildekrans Country House

We had the most lovely time at Wildekrans Country House. The owners have created a lovely homely space, which is very easily accessible from the N2. It is well located for mountain biking in the area and for hiking into the mountains. We had a comfortable stay and were treated to delicious breakfasts every morning. Thanks so much .... we will be back..

We stayed at Wilderkrans Country House to do the Green Mountain Trail. This is one of the best slackpacking trails I have done. Not only are the views and scenery spectacular, but every little detail is thought of. There are two guides with the group, both of which were great people and really knowledgeable about the fauna and flora, the geology and the local area. They also carry a huge amount and you don't lack for lovely delicacies, coffee, etc on the trail. All the food is really good, from the daily breakfasts on the mountain, lunch on the mountain on the first day and the meals at the guesthouse. I am vegan and they went out of their way to prepare meals for me that were worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. You also have the opportunity to sample some of the local wines with lunches at some of the wine farms on odd days.The Country House itself is a beautiful old building with great history that the owner, Alison, will gladly share with you. The food is absolutely out of the top draw and the attention to detail in evert respect is amazing. Alison herself is the perfect hostess and her staff, who have been with her for a long time, are all very good.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 days at Wildekrans, while doing the Green Mountain Trail. The staff are really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them and our host, Alison. Beautiful setting, excellent meals & wines, and first class accommodation.

We spent a really wonderful time in Elgin. Wildekrans Country House represents that perfect balancing point between luxury and authenticity, making one feel at home and cared for, but free and independent at the same time. The beautiful homestead and carefully curated experience of the hiking trail provided everything we needed with flair. The magnificent fynbos covered mountains and exhilarating weather in the company of joyful and professional guides combine into an experience to be treasured.

We had a lovely stay at Wildekrans Country House, starting with a tasty welcome snack and tour of the beautiful property. The owner and her team were very helpful and friendly, even going out of their way to enquire on our behalf about some of the riding trails in the area. The rooms were spacious, well arranged and very clean. The location of the property was perfect for our needs, as we had planned to mountain bike in the area. Thank you to Alison and her team for a lovely stay and we hope to return one day in the future.

Stayed at this beautiful venue while doing the Green Mountain Trail. Alison, the host, goes out of her way to make everything run like clockwork. Magnificent gardens and mountain views, old-style luxurious accommodation and excellent food and wines.

A beautiful and relaxing few days away. The country house and gardens are exquisite! Alison and her team made our stay so comfortable and memorable. We will definitely visit again!

A place to explore fynbos and mountain beauty on foot, or just stay still and ponder the landscape. Atmospheric historic pub within walking distance. Lots of wine farms to explore. A place to revisit. Often.
