Bellville Driving License Test Centre

Only one of the two eye testing stations were working. This after a 2.5 hour loadshedding and a long queue. These facilities, by now, should have had UPS's as the equipment does not draw a lot of current.

Always a long queue when having to do eye tests because either there is only one eye test machine working (out of the 3) or when 2 of the eye testing machines are working the operator behind the machine is slow (also on their cellphone).To pay is even slower (only 2 cashiers). I'd advise you to pay with cash to hurry up the process.Note when loadshedding starts this centre closes. For instance on 12 December 2022 loadshedding started at 2pm so the centre closed for the day at 2pm (the original closing time is 3pm). They don't have a generator. If loadshedding kicks in at 12pm you need to be there before 11am (I think they open at 8am) to be assisted.Don't confuse this Centre with the Traffic Department which is down the road. The info desk person can assist you with checking for warrants on your name, provide you with applications for licence and learners applications. You write your learners license at this Centre. You also do collections here. They accept cash or card to pay.If you need ID photos for your application there is a place in the next building.The security guards are friendly.

The Bellville office provides the best service. Highly professional and efficient. Even when it's full, the queue moves because the staff are committed and most of the time there's full staff complement.

Very impressed. I expected a tedious process but was assisted swiftly and efficiently. It only took 20 minutes to renew my licence. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great experience!

Lovely experience. Staff can be nicer, but overall, the experience was good. The signage should be more visible as you enter as you must ask where to go for learners' classes or payments or collection and where to drop off your learners' papers for your drivers appointment. It is not clearly marked as you enter the facility.

The landline doesn’t work. I’ve been trying to call. Even on the traffic department site the number is inoperative. Please fix this. And not only to get there and to get to the receptionist which I had the worst experience I ever had of my life. I come from Athlone region just to make it clear it’s not like it’s around the corner furthermore the receptionist was so fast, I thought she was running the whole public Bellville Driving testing centre the way she was handling me without customer service. She then mentioned that the power was going off and there was nothing they could for me. So I had to leave but what she didn’t know I had all my documentation ready to get help for obtaining my PDP. Nevertheless I walked out the traffic department, I stood on the opposite side corner where no one saw me I made sure I didn’t want anyone to see me because it felt like I wanted to punch the receptionist in her face. I had a mini malfunction outside. I then told my sim going to take myself and go back in and tried again, when I walked in I saw her colleague in the lobby I confronted her and asked her for help, the other colleague in the eye test room shouted no I was the wrong one. How dark,sick, twisted and disconnected this eye test lady controller is. But anyway after all this BS they decided to help and I done every thing…up till no I haven’t gotten my PDP. How sad of a country we living in. It’s not only at This traffic department is such bad service but everywhere. We all need to stand up for this BS treatment. #hectic

Went to renew my driver licence card. Staff was very friendly and experience was very good. Did my eye test and paid and was out of there in 35 min.

This is probably the most well-organized testing centre I’ve been to in SA! The staff here is also very friendly and efficient. Went there to renew my license and it took less than 2 hours.
