We stayed in Block A with seaside stands. The communal ablutions were like new. The grassy stands are perfectly level and the views spectacular. We arrived late and paid at the municipality offices on our way out. Very impressed with this municipality run campsite! Very nice beach. The only cafe closes at 17:00 and stocks only very basic items. Best yo do you shopping before you arrive.

The setting is beautiful but the facilities are tired and nobody was around to help me when I arrived, so I didn't get access to the private ablutions. In the morning I had to pay 355R for one person. Total rip off.

When camping block A on the ocean side of the road during peak season:Pros:- location. Amazing view.- each site has a tap, electrical point, bin and a built in Braai (no grid).- lots of routes to explore the coastline by foot or bicycle both South and North.- kids can play here mostly unsupervised. No speeding cars and they can't really get lost.- Strandfontein has a proper small town feeling. Not all the houses are mansions and there is only one shop and one restaurant in the town.Cons:- for the camp sites facing the ocean there are only communal ablution blocks and the showers have no space to put any clothes or towel or anything. Just one hook for 3 showers.- no kitchen area where you can wash dishes.- although the bathroom looks clean there was the constant smell of urine.

Neat, Tidy and well taken care of amenities and camp grounds from the high ground horse shoe to the beach front stands you wont be disappointed. A tidal pool for the kids and a long white sand beach with sandstone cliffs further down and a 10km beach walk with lots of nooks and crannies to the Oliphant's River Mouth. To the South of town you have amazing hiking and 4x4 trails taking you all the way to Doringbaai, the neighboring fishing town. Decembers it's packed with mostly farmers and locals from inland towns who enjoy a skaap chop braai 7 nights a week and self harvested seafood breakfast or brunch to help keep the cold west coast waters from freezing al your extremities. Bring your basic tent or your million dollar caravan or rent a cottage for a WesKus experience you will never forget.

This was so far the highlight of my trip, staying in a camp with no fences and had no problems at all, had a walk on the beach to blou berg, about 2.5km away but for sure worth the walking. Jason made sure that everything was alright at the camp site and stopped and talked every day for 5 minutes by every camper, thank you again for a good few days camping at block A

Beautiful sights and camping sites are great except the office closed before the appointed time on the Saturday and we could not book in. Calling didn't help either as nobody answered and we searched for alternate accommodation with no luck as it was high season and all surrounds were fully booked.Such a let down after travelling so far

Four couples booked for 3 days, decided to stay for 5 days. Wonderful staff, helpful very efficient. Gas problem repaired same day. Caravan Park and beach swept, cleaned daily. Ablutions clean and functional. Will definitely return. Private ablutions sites well protected from wind, front sites have awesome view of beach, with braai, tap and dustbin.
