Southern Yurts

Our stay was amazing and host Kate and Tobin made sure everything was ready. We arrived 30 mins early and were allowed to check in before the 2PM checkin in time. We also forgot milk and Kate provided us with enough to last the stay which was really appreciatedIf I could I would give Southern Yurt 6 stars because the location, activities and amenities were great however would have been really amazing if there was backup power as one of the nights we stayed the power was out for 4 hours from 8 till 12:30. Perhaps something to look into for the future.That being said it wasn’t all bad as the we have amazing views of the night sky and stars which was really amazing.

We cannot recommend Forest Yurt at Southern Yurts highly enough! It is so beautifully furnished and provides anything and everything you may need. We loved the various view spots, chill areas and of course the most glorious wood-fired hot tub. Our dogs loved the endless trails even more! Thank you, Kate and Tobin, for being the best hosts. We will be visiting again soon!

Our stay at Southern Yurts was incredible!We have stayed in many spectacular places around the world and this one is definitely up there with the best. Kate and Tobin are great hosts, very friendly and attentive. Our meal baskets were well thought out and every meal was delicious. We did a hike from our yurt which was lovely and ended it off with a cold beer in the hot tub.We will 100% be back.Thanks Kate and Tobin!

Gosh what a dream this place was! We went there for our first 3 days of honeymoon and cannot say enough how much we LOVED it. From the wood fired hot tub to the stunning hikes to the private dam with a couple of kayaks to the braai we cooked under the stars. Not to mention the food baskets which were out of this world - from freshly baked bread every morning to home made dinners to everything in between, it was truly unreal. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Lovely place for an escape into nature. We had a magical experience at Malachite camp, sitting in the wood-fired hot tub watching black eagles circling a cliff face to roost for the night and after that the milky way emerged, stretching across the sky. The hosts were really friendly and responsive. Great value.

Perfect!!The surroundings are glorious. A beautiful lush farm with a river running through it.We stayed in the river cabin. The river was in full flow when we arrived as there had been big rain. Beautiful!The river cabin is well equipped and beautifully done. Absolute love and care has been put into the accommodation and even the walks/ forest/ dam ect. It is though they have lived in each space and made it special, as if it were a home. The touches are all there to elevate your stay.The dam with a weeping willow and weavers nests that have canoes for you to use. The secret forest walk with a swing. It's an adults playground. And the bird life!The hot tub ofcourse is an absolute win!!Lovely woven egg thing to sit and read in. Special little spits every where.We peeked at the other accommodation and they looked as good!This is a place not to miss!!!Also Kate and Tobin are perfect hosts!!

Tobin and Kate were absolutely amazing hosts. The views and experience was one to remember. I wish we could have stayed longer would definitely be visiting them again. Don't recommend low cars going as the road to the yurts is a bit bumpy but manageable. The hot tub was a blast and the black eagles that live in the mountains were amazing to see. Thank you Southern Yurts!!!!! A must see for anyone looking for fun in the wild. Pity the previous visitors damaged the solar system just before our visit but the cell signal was still strong enough to do our work. 11 out of 10 for this place in my eyes.

We had a beautiful and super relaxing time in our lovely cabin. We appreciated the attention to detail - the many thoughtful touches and the beautiful garden space. It's such a peaceful sanctuary. Loved bird watching and the hot tub under the stars - just magic! The hosts went above and beyond the call of duty during our stay. Such lovely people. A deeply relaxing and restorative place to escape the busyness of city life.
