Zebula Golf Estate & Spa

This was my 4th trip to Zebula.Our family went there for Easter weekend. 12 of us stayed in one of the Zebula owned homes. We also booked the adjacent 2 bedroom chalet.The house & chalet:Beautiful large bedrooms, comfortable beds, great that each bedroom has it's own bathroom. The kids and teens had their own space upstairs at the main house with a TV and pool table. As a group, we enjoyed the comfort of the house, and large entertainment areas inside and outside.Unfortunately there were some things that we noticed immediately when we arrived that has brought down my rating. The house as advertised says it has a washing machine, tumble dryer and dish washer, as well as provides toiletries and tea and coffee. Of the above, we had an old washing machine. When you are a large group all these things make a difference, and we chose this house in part because of these extras. Not only that, there is a certain expectation when you pay so much for the house.There were also some issues in the house that required maintenance to come and attend to.Service:Has gone downhill since my last visit. Bad service from reception at the front desk, and the service and quality of the food at the restaurant even worse. Prices are exorbitant, with no justification since the food was terrible. Service is non existent and there are no apologies for long waits or bad food or bad service.Overall, if you want a place to get away with a group of friends/ family, I would still recommend Zebula houses, as the location is great, as are the comfort of the houses particularly for a large group, but do lower your expectations with service levels, and don't expect absolutely everything to be in the house as advertised.

Worst experience ever. The service stinks.Our villa was not cleaned. Food in the fridge from the previous guests. Beds not made. Showers not cleaned. The food took hours to get to us. The reception staff not helpful at all. Terrible, terrible service

This place deserves zero stars. We booked 2 of their supposedly luxury executive suites at the Waterberg lodge. 1stly the place is extremely filthy: mould in and under the fridge, dirty bedding which is stiff because it’s so old, tattered carpets, all furnished with old and dirty furniture, mildew in the bathrooms, water stained showers and baths. You can tell no effort was taken to prepare the room from previous guests as we found used toothpicks and earbuds, footsteps in the shower and hand prints on the windows. The dining experience has inedible food which was so disappointing because we booked an all inclusive stay. The service was laughable as even after several complaints their staff still made us wait 4 hours just to attend to our frustrations. Please do not visit this facility. I truly would have preferred remaining in the comfort of my own home then visiting this place. Did I mention that we booked an all inclusive stay with activities however when we attempted to reserve a game drive we were told they were fully booked. Not sure how that makes sense as these too were fully paid for. This place should seriously be shut down. Worst experience ever is an understatement!!!!

Reception staff and service was terrible.Food on our first night was terrible but improved alot after that.Rooms are nice and beds are comfortable but there are no emergency lights or candles and matches.A great variety of animals on the estate and a beautiful golf course.We had a wonderful facial and massage.What a pity the rude staff at the front desk, the face of the resort, tarnish the holiday

The staff was friendly and helpfull. However we booked a 3 hour game drive and paid it but then we were informed that we can't go because of hunting.. I feel a big lodge like this would accomodate the time slots for hunting and game drives. We requested a refund and we were told no it will not happen because the reason for refund is not good enough. When we wanted to drive around the place in our own vehicle we were told we can't. I mean you only have antelope, a few zebra's and giraffes, why can't we drive by ourselves, it's not like the big 5 game drive that we payed for.

I don't understand why there are bad reviews? We read them before we went to Zebula and still don't understand. Everything was super. The staff is great, the service is great. Shout to the manager for helping us out last minute. I will definitely be going there soon.

This is a beautiful place and has many positives. However, there is also room for improvement. We were there for a few days (a group of around 40 people) and everyone complained that they got lost trying to find their rooms. There is signage, but not enough. Last night, during a serious storm, the electricity kept on tripping; not sure what the cause was but many people (especially the ladies) felt scared in the total darkness. The condition of the gravel roads inside this massive area need some attention. Nonetheless, it’s a place I’ll visit again. Almost forgot, I ordered a cappuccino last night around 20:00; one of my colleagues reminded the particular waiter twice; he never brought it …

A peaceful place we went there for a team building and a year end function. The environment is good and you get to see animals everywhere. But you will wait forever for the refund, to date am still waiting for my refund, am not happy about the refund but their place is peaceful and we attended quad biking it was fun and game drive was the best, we even had a massage in the morning wow that was exceptional the hot stones and a warm towel we then got into the jacuzzi after the massage with our drinks and I appreciate the ladies who did the massage they are so professional.

An unpleasant experience I must say. The following are the areas which reflected incompetence in the staff and lack of customer centricity1. Entrance code- We were not sent an entrance code prior to our arrival and to our surprise the security wouldn’t let us in. We spent 10min on a call with reception trying to obtain a code and eventually got it. The question is…Why was the code not sent a day or hours before check-in?2. Fee at the gate - Another surprise, just after getting the code we were told we needed to pay R150 “conservation fee” for parking. Again why were we not informed in advance about this?3. Cutlery- When we got to our room we had two of everything except for cutlery. We had to share one teaspoon to make coffee4. Leaking air conditioner - At night we wanted to put the air conditioner on and it started dripping water.5. Non functional Telephone - We wanted to call reception and inform them about the air conditioner but the phone in the room wasn’t working.6. Facilities - We woke up early to take a shower and the shower light was not working. Resorted to taking a bath7. Door component - Room 11. The door doesn’t close unless you lock it. The door component that allows the door to close when you push it isn’t there8. Booking for activities - we booked at reception for quad biking for 12noon. We arrived at reception at 11:45am only to be told that the times changed because it’s winter and the quad biking team left at 11am.Someone please help me understand, how does how such a beautiful golf estate operate at this level?
