Ruimsig Waterfall
An absolutely beautiful clean and well-kept park. It's amazing, it would be 5 stars but I'm giving it 3 because we bought tickets and we planned on hiking to the top but as we got to the trail there was a gate and it said it was closed. They never told us when we bought the tickets which cost R80 per person. So we went in and then out, cause we wanted to hike somewhere. Beautiful park though.

Part of the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. The waterfall is at the tail end of a beautiful, well maintained garden. Definitely a must visit in Johannesburg. While there you can take a walk up towards the top of the waterfall which has Eagles nesting on the other side of the stream. You can also decide to walk even further up. A moderately steep climb of about 15 minutes to enjoy some beautiful panoramic views of the Magalies range. The area that forms the botanical gardens is some of the oldest rock formations in the world around 3600 million years ago.

It's always just so beautiful there, I personally love the Dam trail which is over grown and has a great rainforest vibe to it

This place was beyond amazing. Lots of food stands. Plenty of free space for kids to play. Very long ques for food, so rather pack a picnic basket. No cash taken by vendors, only cards.

An incredibly beautiful waterfall, right in the middle of the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. The falls are approximately 100 foot high. There's a rugged path up to the top for the more adventurous walker.

Gorgeous views, the gardens leading up to the waterfall are well maintained, there’s some incredible and interesting projects with insightful boards explaining the different processes happening. It’s great to see the eagles still soaring happily. The only downside, beside the horrendous smell coming from the public toilets which were not in the best condition either, is the litter I came across. Both just in general where things have been dropped and not bothered to be picked up but also and more concerningly, in the inaccessible gardens around the waterfall up the stone steps and path. As a litter free zone, there are no dustbins in the botanical gardens and thus, no way to discard any trash, we can’t rely on general public to adhere to the rules of keeping their litter with them and no picnicking by the waterfall, yet no one is there enforcing that, so many people take their food and drinks with them.It was really disappointing to see all that litter and so many empty plastic bottles lying around, it isn’t the parks fault for this, but perhaps stricter enforcements should be placed to prevent uncivilized people from leaving their junk behind.I did however see many families with bags of rubbish with them, that they had collected and kept, so it’s not all hopeless, just probably a handful of inconsiderate and uncouth beings that are too lazy to pick up after themselves.Overall, besides the rude humans that desecrate such a gorgeous, tranquil and well maintained garden and waterfall, it is always wonderful to spend time here.I will definitely be back to support and enjoy the wonderful views.
