Umgeni River Bird Park
They have a wide variety of birds to see and interact with. It’s a lovely educational outing bursting with nature’s beautiful background. With daily bird free-flight shows where you can actually feed the birds at the show. Beautiful time spent with family.

The urgent River bird park is a great place to take children. The entrance fee is very affordable. And it included an hour bird show FOR FREE!!! There is a Cafe that sells food.. at very reasonable prices. Try to get there before 2 pm. As the bird show is every day at 2 pm.

Hands down one of the coolest places to spend a morning/afternoon/day in Durban! The selection of birds is really good, and the staff at the park area fantastic! Make sure you catch the free flight bird show if you go.

Fantastic collection of birds from all over the world! We arrived just as it opened on a July Friday morning, and we had the place to ourselves for the first half hour. We spent a good two hours here and might have stayed longer if we hadn’t had a plane to catch.

We visited during the week (out of season). There are beautiful birds, friendly handlers and a lot to see! The staff members are very friendly and there are some bird enclosures you can walk through. Remember to bring some cash as a donation to the park to take care of the birds!

Well worth the visit. Nice display of a variety of birds. All well kept and healthy birds.Interactive bird show is a definite highlight. Excellent, informative handlers. Bird flights are up close and personal. So have to be prepared for some close encounters.Beautiful refreshing waterfall at the cafe to relax after the show.Would definitely add to any list of to do's in Durban. Safe parking as well.

An institution in Durban. Happy to see it still going. Some plaques bearing birds names are missing, which is annoying. Some areas were closed for maintenance which was disappointing. Visited on a quiet weekday, but restaurant was closed. Could do with a bit of maintenance. Birds seem well looked after and happy, which is the main thing. Lots of different local and exotic birds to view and learn about. They do have live bird shows too, so phone first to check the time of these. A great place to visit with kids.

Come on guys, so much potential, this place used to be much better looked after, its sad to see a few enclosures abandoned. Management needs fresh ideas to bring in more feet because the environment is beautiful but the atmosphere is sadly dying :(

Good range of birds on display, useful information plaques. Free flight show was good - close interaction with birds. Needs some more maintenance though. A tour guide would be useful to learn more about the birds.
