Dr Martin De Scally and his team are the absolute best! Always so thorough, always willing to help… even after hours and they really do take care of pets with so much care and compassion. I’ve tried many veterinary practices in Pietermaritzburg but Hilton Vet Hospital is really the place to go if you’re looking for the best medical attention for your pet

Not recommended at all. Pathetic service, administrative wise. If you are thinking of immigrating and brining your pet… please don’t waste your time.We moved to the US 7 months ago. Our dog, Snippy was staying with friends of ours in Hilton, to give us time to finalize her papers.Requirement/steps1) needs to have a microchip and first vaccination2) new rabies vaccination3) wait 4 weeks, get a titer drawn4) blood is sent to Onderstepoort5) application for US permit7) final medical check up (our pet travel agency drafted the medical certificate, for Hilton Vet to sign)I made most of the arrangements directly with Lana, indicating clearly that we needed a Titer to be drawn.Incident 1: Snippy was given a 2nd and 3rd rabies shot. Finally I asked my sister to contact Hilton vet directly… everything seemed to have been sorted.When they arrived with Snippy’s, Lana once again refused that Snippy gets a rabies certificate as it is to risky for Hilton vet. And that we might loose our money??Finally, after our friends insisted to have Snippy’s blood drawn, Lana agreed and Onderstepoort sent the rabies certificate.This extended the process with at least 2 monthsIncident 2:For the final health check up:Our travel pet agency compiled the health certificate, for everyone’s convenience…When our friend left Hilton Vet, after the examination, he went through all the papers and arranged to leave the papers at reception for the pet travel agency to collect. He clearly asked Front desk if she agrees that everything is in order for the pet agency to collect before they fetch Snippy. She agreed that all is in order.When the pet agency arrived, they refused to hand over the papers, because of “out standing fees” (Our payments toward a Hilton Vet have always been immediately or within reasonable time).After having our friend drive back and pay R1006,62 for stamping the health certificate…. The papers were finally handed over and my me and my husband and Snippy will reunite soon.

The service and care received from the staff is outstanding, everyone takes the time to explain what needs to be done and makes your dog's stay as comfortable as possible.

I took a very badly injured stray today. They were absolutely helpful. They allowed us to bring him in, gave him a thorough check up and were very friendly. The vet was very comforting in giving us the news that the kitten would not survive. The receptionist was also absolutely helpful on the phone and in person. This has been the best vet experience I’ve ever had and it’s a pity that they are located so far from my home as I would’ve loved to go to them always.

A 4am Sunday morning emergency saw this team mobilize helpful, friendly and professional staff to perform and emergency operation on our big Boerbul male. Hospital and medical arrangements were flawlessly conducted and implemented, and we could rest in very honest and forthright communication through the process. Thank-you to the team for your help and service, and for saving our now very happy and healthy dog!

Worst service I have ever had in my life.We have an account fully paid up but they refused to see my dogs until a deposit was made. This after they called to arrange an appointment for the dogs to be booked in.Absolute useless and grumpy service from the receptionist.The head Vet made a plan, however would only start treating the dogs once I signed a waiver of how much it would cost..Complete money hungry business with no care about your animals or their wellbeing.
