In early 2020 I noticed a small red spot on my right cheek, the spot increased in size to the point that I decided to seek medical advice as to what it could be. I then visited Dr. Ranjan Pillay at his practice at Suite 4, 1st Floor Hibiscus Day Surgical Hospital, Cnr Bazley & George Street, Port Shepstone in Jan 2021.The examination resulted in a date set for a surgical procedure to be performed on my right cheek for purpose of a biopsy diagnosis. This procedure took place in February 2021. In all honesty I must state that this did not go as I anticipated. Imagine falling into a relaxed slumber while such a delicate procedure is performed? Well, that is exactly what happened to me. Everything was done in just less than an hour. Professionally done, yet in a way that I may only give exceptional accolade to Dr. Ranjan Pillay. He is truly a warm and caring skin specialist that administrates attention to detail in his work. This was indeed a delicate procedure performed in its best! I must also mention Toodless his assistant, for making things as comfortable as possible and Avisha who receives you with courtesy at reception. Dr. Pillay “talked” us both through the procedure and he commented on what exactly he is doing to get rid of the bad. The diagnosis was:DIAGNOSISSKIN BIOPSY FACE RIGHT CHEEK: Features are those of an Invasive Malignant Tumour, favouring an Ulcerated Invasive Basal CellCarcinoma showing Micronodular and Adenoid Growth Patterns. The Tumour is present at the Deep Margin. The Tumour appears Completely Excised at the Long Lateral Margins.I had to revisit Dr. Pillay on the 5th of May 2021 for a post-procedure evaluation. The result, Dr. Pillay was pleased with the results and the way that the skin has healed. Healing came from attention to the instructions he gave as for wound care, but the scar, What scar? Well done Doc. Ranjan Pillay!! I hold you in high esteem and will recommend you and your team to whomever needs any skin disorder evaluated and needs to be taken care of.In high RegardYour very thankful patient, Jacques.

My wife, daughter and I have used Dr Pillay’s services within the past two years. What sets him apart from most other specialists is his empathy for his patients and his extremely amenable “bedside manner”. His practice deserves to prosper.

I was very very very heart broken by this Dr today, I am so sad i left crying there today....I was diagnosed with a severe skin problem a few months back, I went from Dr. to Dr. and we're then referred to him, I went for 1st time consulting and he had a look and I was told the same thing as all previous doctors did... I listened to his instructions and got the medications he prescribed and did everything I needed to do as per Dr. Instructions, I was so happy that i might have found a nice doctor who were so sympathetic towards me at first and explaining everything to me about my condition, cause it came to me as a huge shock and I were and still am so scared and afraid of what would happen in the future cause of my condition. He booked me for a follow up a few weeks later, I had the check up with him he said that it started to look better and that I must just keep on with the treatment, he told me to do a follow up in 3 months time to check progress again...So meanwhile I got my medications and doing my routines daily as per Dr orders, in January I was not doing very well at all and I even had begun to have ear problems, my husband phone in to arrange a quick follow up to show him my ears and ask for some advice to know if it could be a reaction to my condition aswell or not?But the ladies infront just kept on telling my husband that my follow up is due in March and as he is trying to tell them that we know that and this is not a follow up he just needs to see my ears and body cause it was not doing good at all...He said I could come in to have a look but it was if he wasn't really in the mood I was in so much pain and they didn't even want my husband to come in with me like the first time, I then told him how my body is feeling like and by that time my feet got worse I have difficulty walking and that my ears are painful and it goes deaf some times, my jaw was swollen and eating is painful, he just said that he doesn't know cause he's not a ear specialist and referred me down the hall to the ear specialist, then also he just replied to my feet and body that i must just go on with the treatment and will have a proper look at it in my follow up in March! So my follow up came today, I went there to check in I sat outside in the hall and my husband went in to say that we are here, my husband came out saying that they can't find my booking they are looking into the situation, so we sat and wait and wait then she called us in saying that they don't know where the problem arised cause they never filled in my booking because of the lack in communication...so they don't have an open position for me at the moment, maybe a bit later if I don't mind waiting, and that the charge will be R900, so I asked what it is just a follow up and that he didn't charge me for the first one, he didn't even say while I was there in the follow up that he will charge me for the second time, so all that lady kept on worrying about is the money she said ja well he won't see you if you don't have the money, she even said yes we don't charge if it falls within a months time but after a month we do, and nobody told us that...but that's not the only thing, it broke my heart and confidence in doctors completely that he did not even had the audacity and humanity to just stick his head out just to greet me and tell me himself about the situation or atleast give me a proper reference to somebody else....Im really disgusted in those ladies and the doctor for such kind of treatment, the new younger one was so unhelpfull and unwilling she even threw her hands up in the air when my husband asked her to just please read to us what the doctor wrote on a piece of paper??What has happened to our society? Why as doctors do they do that to people??????
