The call center is a waste of time. They all investigate and never get back. I've sent emails with an emergency complaint about my car being towed and not being located where it is. Serious incompetence at play. Alternative competitor is worth trying.

I have been a member of the AA for 5 years. My father was a member for as long as I can remember.I spend most of my time living abroad.Three years ago I returned to a car with a flat battery despite disconnecting the terminals. I called the AA, they replaced the battery at no charge reminding me that I was entitled to one free batter per year.Earlier this year my wife was returning for a months stay in SA. I contacted the AA requesting they please attend to the car a day prior to my wife’s arrival to ensure the battery is functional. This appointment was confirmed with my neighbor who would Grant them access.They never arrived as scheduled. My 67 year old wife arrived after 32 hours of flying time and 6 hour layover to a dead car.When she contacted them to enquire why they didn’t keep their appointment she got evasive answers.They then pointed out that she was not a member and could not respond to her now new request for assistance.I then took out a membership for her to avoid any issues whilst in SA. They confirmed her membership and finally came to her assistance.She was charged $365 ( over R4500) for a new battery. Unwittingly she paid this.My multiple requests since March for a full refund have remained unheeded.I would most definitely not recommend this organization.Litigation appears to be my only recourse.

Long story short - I needed help and the AA didn't provide the services paid for. Told me I haven't paid them and wouldn't assist until I did.I'v paid & not in arrears.So moral of the story = You can only use the AA on day of payment (maybe), every other day, you owe them money!

The AA is the best vehicle association to sign up with and become a member. I had the most wonderful service yesterday. Problem detected immediatly, attended to efficiently with a gentle and kind and extremely knowledgable assistant, Rodgers Chauke. Thank you, Rodgers. I was on my way in no time and I can travel safely from now on.
