Karkloof Falls
Nice waterfall, accessible directly using car. Area maintained by SAPPI and they charge you small fee to visit. I have attached picture for charges and timings. Once you enter security gate, drive down 7km which will take you directly to water fall view point and picnic site. There is small stream at picnic area also.Road is okay to manage with any car. I went there with my sedan. However be careful at few places if u r driving low clearance car.Waterfall is really amazing. We could see vapour rising from fall and going towards sky in form of clouds. There are hiking trails to waterfall also managed by Karkloof country club where u need to pay a fee and can go.

The Karkloof country club has various trails for cycling, hiking and runs. The trails are marked out with different colours. We did the 8km forest trail leading to the waterfall. It was a day fee if R80 to do the trails. The last sign was broken so we were not sure whether to go up or down and ended up on the dirt road route at the end.The river was splendid and so nice and clean as is the picnic spot.It is a pity that there is no route to walk along the river to the bottom of the falls. You can only see the falls from the top. It would be great if the alien weeds werr removed for better viewing of the falls.Beautiful spot nonetheless.

Karkloof Falls
Very nice secluded waterfall with a great view from the picnic spot. Definitely worth the detour we took to have a look. There is a small entrance fee as it is private property and there is a hiking trail available.

It was our first time visiting Karkloof Falls, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. Visiting after heavy rains turned out to be a bonus as we got to see the falls in it's full might. The roads can get abit agricultural so it's best to visit with a high rise vehicle, however it's not impossible to reach there in a regular motor vehicle. I was able to have some fun in the mud from the week long heavy downpour. It's a very beautiful place, you can even braai or picnic, theres alot to explore.

Absolutely stunning waterfall just outside of Howick in KZN. Everyone is familiar with its larger sister in Howick town centre but this one is often overlooked. It’s on the Karkloof Road and you need to pay a small entrance fee (R30 per person) which contributes to the upkeep of the environment. The road to the falls is about 5 Km and can get muddy in places (see video) - be careful!Once you arrive at the picnic site you can park up and Braai. The view on to the Falls is spectacular and a viewing platform is provided. There’s also a smaller waterfall at the side of the grassy area where you can stand at the top. Watch smaller children though.Overall it’s a stunning place. Not attempted any of the walks towards the head of the main falls but there appears to be some kind of viewing platform closer on.If you’re in the area, and in a suitable car, then definitely give it a visit.

Great place to visit, bring along a drone for good pictures. Picnic area for relaxing, beautiful place for pictures, away from urban area good to connect with nature.. road slightly not suitable for small cars..

Lovely waterfall with a nice picnic area. If you drive for about 5 minutes past the falls, there is a another little waterfall with some amazing rockpools in which you can swim, but.... the water is icy.

Karkloof Falls
Beautiful outing and great picnic spot. The falls are pet friendly, dogs just need to be on leads.Would suggest a high rise vehicle as the roads can be tricky, we went after heavy rains and the roads were very muddy. Might be better for a smaller car when roads are dry.

Beautiful!I can't believe how everybody knows about Howick and yet this is such a well-kept secret. The drive there is already magical through the pine forests (which you can do in a normal, small sedan). Upon arriving, you will see a large open field where you can have a picnic or a braai (with braaistands already in place) and a viewing deck.We just popped in to admire the waterfall for a while, but next time will stay for a picnic or bring some friends for a braai. There is no entrance fee and there was nobody else there when we visited. We have heard mixed review about whether or not you can still hike to the actual waterfall itself (with reports of people having fallen over) but there are running and cycling trails that run through the forest.
