What an uplifting experience to visit Janine at Scarab and share her enthusiasm and knowledge of gems and jewellery. Every piece is crafted with care and love and she is willing to take time with her clients in order to assess their particular desires and needs. Whether it is to remodel an old piece or buy one of her beautiful creations, I can't recommend Janine highly enough. My advice is to make Scarab your first stop.

I took some old jewellery of my mother's to Janine and she helped me to refurbish the items. She also made me the most beautiful pendant using gold and a gemstone that had been lying around for years without being used. She's patient and really good at helping you figure out how to use what you have to make something that you will enjoy wearing. She also fixed one of my eternity rings and it actually looks better now than when I originally bought it! The quality of her work is just amazing!

I recently returned to Scarab with a wedding ring I bought from them 25 years ago that belonged to my wife. We needed to have a stone replaced quickly (I was only able to be in Cape Town for a few days). Scarab refurbished the ring absolutely beautifully in record time and I was so hugely impressed and over the moon. I really appreciate the lengths that the Scarab team went to - completely amazing.

Janine and the team at Scarab Jewellery provided amazing service: creative, professional and personalised. I needed to replace my lost engagement ring and had quite unusual ideas about the kinds of stones and arrangement I wanted. Janine was a pleasure to deal with from the get-go. I approached her to get an engagement ring made (with quite specific ideas in mind) and she really made it such an easy, special and personal experience. I had very limited knowledge on everything to do with ring design, pricing etc. and Janine was always there to answer any questions and offer valuable advice. In the end, the finished ring surpassed any expectations I had - it’s beautiful. I highly recommend Scarab and Janine and am looking forward to future dealings with them!

What a treat it was to visit Scarab. Janine created a bespoke piece for my mom’s birthday incorporating the birthstones of all her children - not easy when one is April (diamond)!! The result is perfect - a beautiful one-off piece, a little bit quirky but still classic and gorgeous, that can be worn in 2 ways. I recently worked with Janine from Scarab to re-design some pieces of costume jewellery that I wasn't wearing anymore. What a fabulous experience. I went with a few ideas, but Janine expertly guided me in terms of design and I am blown away by the end result. The costume jewels have been upcycled into bespoke, timeless, modern pieces that I can wear every day. Her pricing is also very reasonable and I can definitely recommend that you entrust your precious pieces to Scarab if you want a makeover.
