Palm Park

I stayed at Palm Park Margate for the weekend 15 April to 17April 2016. The flat No 6 is so substandard and in need of desperate renovation. Although cleaned just before we moved in, the tile floors were sticky and tatty and in need of a proper scrub. Taps needs washers, carpets way overdue of replacement , WIFI not working, security lock on sliding door broken, windows fittings broken and some cannot open. Worst of all is the noise level and loud music coming from the premises next to Palm Park which sounded like a sjebeen till 3am Saturday morning and the following night the sound was even worst till 11 pm. We had to sleep in the spare room to escape the noise somewhat and then on Sunday morning some loud talking wakened us from the other side. Palm Park is not worth the money spend nor is it worthy of being part of the 1st exchange group of destinations.

The place needs some attention although it is beautiful inside. There is no swimming pool athough you can go and swim at Costa Smerelda. The place next to Palm Park is very noisy and we did not feel safe. The lady at Reception Cathy needs a score of 12 out of 10. She is very friendly and helpfull. Otherwise we had a nice stay !!!

Bedrooms, lounge and dining room are acceptable. Bathrooms and kitchen needs repair and attention or updating. Covered parking is nice. Only units 15 and 16 has sea views, the rest faces the fence and side buildings. Braai facilities are very disappointing and inconvenient. Aircons would also be recommended as the area is very humid. Unit had an oven but no pans for utilizing. Unit had washing machine and tumbledryer. Security gaurd at night. Within walking distance to main beach. Unit had walk in closet but very impractical for visitors. Both Bathrooms had baths but no free standing shower, only a shower head over bath. Some window panes are loose and glass nearly falling out. Also window handles needs fixing, as the windows cannit close properly and increases security risk.

Unit was nice and clean. Only problem we had is that the unit smelled very musty which is obviosly caused by the ocean but can be corrected with some candles. Cleaning services was very friendly and do a very good job. Beds and rooms are extremely comfortable. Braai area is in need of desperate upgrade and needs to be made more secure and private, same goes for the balcony's!

Good place but not properly maintained... We stayed in unit 11 and the bathroom started licking... We were moved to unit 14 and that was better but the carpets on the 2nd bedroom were smelling like cats. Windows in the master bathroom on unit 14 are so rusted you are even scared to open them coz you scared they gonna fall or something. I just think if they can maintain the place properly not fix things when the guests are complaining about them then those apartments would be a better place to stay at. Even the cleaning service, they need to up their game, when we were moved to apartment 14, the Dstv remote didn't have a lid, until 3 days later when we lifted the couch and we found the lid and you could see that that place wasn't cleaned for some days. There were bread crumbs underneath the couch.The place is a walk away from the beach which is very nice but the don't have a pool inside, we had to drive to Margate Sands for the kids to go to the pool but all in all... the kids enjoyed the stay in Margate....

Great view side. Well furnished and clean. Alot of privacy if u need it. Safety seems to be high up in their books, I commend them on that. Not far from shelly mall and just a walk away from the beach. If your in to fishing it also a great spot

Nice and safe place within walking distance to the beach. Friendly staff. Unit 4 was a bit of a disappointment. Broken sleeper couch and leaking shower. The housekeeping was good though but overall of the unit could do with a little renovation because it has potential.

The two stars is only because of the nice staff. Theres a dangerous game of expectations vs reality thats being played here. If u look at the most mentioned terms in the reviews renovation is the 3rd most mentioned. I don't like seeing where we are booked to stay neutral so that im not disappointed incase it goes wrong. And it did. The place next door can get very noisy. Its close to the beach. But stray too far in the wrong direction and you may be offered to purchase illicit services. So yeah. Id consider if it was offered free but Not on my dime!!!

Acomadation is fine...Do not expect much at palm park, we had unpleasant views our bathroom was a bit dirty and there is no swimming pool only unit 15&16 has seaviews. I go very often to Margate and my stay was ok at palm parkI will recommend

Stayed in unit 5 and I am appauled, the unit smells musty and there is mould everywhere! There is loud music coming from the low cost housing next door. How can you run a ' resort' with the constant loud music and noise next door? After a holiday, one would need another holiday! Will not be back- in fact I want a refund!
