Bothasig Fynbos Nature Reserve
Hidden reserve within concrete suburbia. Fynbos normally found on the mountains in the popular Table Mountain range National Park complex. This not found everywhere in Cape Town. Took me 23 years to stumble upon this rare gem of a reserve.

Bothasig Fynbos Nature Reserve
Quiet, peaceful, only small, however supports an array of endangered fynbos species. Only one wish is that the people who walk dogs there would obey the rules...keep dogs on a leash, use the poop bags provided to pick up your dogs poop and then kindly use bins provided and dispose if it..instead of leaving bags of poop lying around.Great place to go running.

It is a fantastic place for a walk with the dogs. The reserve has really grown over the years and there is always something new to see.

Lots of signs around asking people to pick up after their dogs. But this does not happen, sadly.

....This Magnificent Open field of Priceless Fauna & Flora is only 500 meters from our front door! Just a few years ago Alderman James Vos discovered the Importance of Preserving this find and so convinced the City of Cape Town to Enclose, Preserve and Maintain this Site! The location is Superb as its elevated so that when you are walking here you have the Most Awesome View of Table Mountain & Signal-Hill together! In the evening the Sunset Views from this Park is Spectacular! Inside there is also a Dried up Pond maybe if the City of Cape Town can find some water to fill this pond it might attract so of the Flying Geese & Duck Species! Today it is also one of the Most Popular Dog Walking Arenas in the Area! Maybe the City of Cape Town must also find a way to educate the people using this park about the Critically Endangered Sand Plain Fynbos by somehow Identifying the different species.......We now also use this park to achieve our Daily Goals of 8000 steps as per W.H.O.'s recommendation which is equal to 5kms per day! Once around here is +- 5000 steps!......Its Absolutely Exhilarating to be walking in Nature!!!! Today 28th November 2016 on our walks we discovered hoards of Black & White and White Mice running around unhindered........
