Hopewell Private Game Reserve

Our 2nd time visiting and still blown away by the world class treatment you really only see in the movies! Christelle and Paulie our guides literally know everything about everything. John and Neba had our mouths watering at every meal with service that made us feel like King and Queens. Sylvia and helper kept our room spotless every chance they could. Truly 5 star!Not to mention our action packed game drives...If you want to check out some Hungry Hippos, Close Encounters with naughty elephants, Face to Face with Buffalo and even Cuddles with Thabo the Cheetah, then this must go on your bucket list. This was by far one of the best experiences in South Africa! The entire Hopewell team made our stay warm and welcoming. The game reserve is not as huge as some others but that’s what makes it so special. Along with Christel and Paulie we had very interesting game drives. Christel told us so much about the animals and their behavior. And Paulie showed us the different plants and told us more about the history of the reserve. Since there arent many game drives a day such as in big resorts where there are 10 cars driving around, the animals are not quite used to the cars and are still living their live which I love. I also loved how they are all a big family and take so much care about the eco system at Hopewell. The food was great also and the Athmosphäre sitting on the deck for lunch was wonderful. I would absolutely recommend going to Hopewell but also would go and see a bigger game reserve just to have to full experience.Thanks again for this wonderful time!!

Thank you for the most unforgettable stay. We loved every minute. The rooms, staff & of course the scenery & animals.Everything about Hopewell is 5 star. Cannot wait to come back again one day.

was invited as a guest last weekend for my friends 50th.the place is in need of some maintenance.after our stay we complained to management but they didn't respond.plug was open/broken in kitchen, kitchen was really ill equipped...from broken grater to no sharp knife and about 10 things in between that were missing, at arrival there was no hot water as the gas bottles were empty, even once they were filled one battled to get hot water outa them.it's a lovely house but there is no oversight or special touches.an award winning home lacking a homey touch.won't be back.

Hopewell is relatively close to Port Elizabeth and all the roads up and to the reception area are paved and in a good condition. On arrival at reception you and all your luggage are loaded on the game drive vehicle and you are taken to the main lodge within the reserve by your ranger and tracker. They don't have a lot of rooms which means less guests and more personalized attention. Our room was very spacious and it also had its own private pool, which was quite big, that overlooked the reserve. This isn't a Big 5 reserve but what they do offer is awesome animal sightings with no pressure to rush you at each sighting. They also have the up close Cheetah experience which was very special. Everything they do, they do with love and you see that also through the dishes they prepare - the food was super tasty and beautifully presented, with dinner being served in their boma" which was very special. The reserve truly offers a unique high end safari experience that made our honeymoon experience incredible.The luxurious accomodation and team that looked after us was world class.It felt if we had the entire reserve to ourselves. The game drives were breath taking and extremely informative.Thank you Christelle, Paulie, John and Nceba for truly magical 2 days.

A beautiful place, many animals cheetahs elephants and much more all seen and explained by a real authentic guide who will not disturb the animals but show you real experience of the African wildlife, only a few spiders disturbed our stay. Such a great lodge also for vegetarians very nice authentic people

We had the most magnificent 4 days at this magical resort. Beside being an absolute paradise the crew were amazing. They couldn’t do enough to make us super satisfied all day long, nothing was too much for them. The 2 chefs cooked for us 5-star gourmet food 3 times a day, our game ranger (and site manager) Christelle spoiled us rotten with daily game drives, the rooms were clean, very comfortable bed, spacious and overlooking magical view with variety of animal visiting occasionally. This was the best treat of our life ... we will be back.
