Food: I ordered the steak. Everything on my plate was very bland and cold and I had to send it back.Eventhough the town was busy on Father’s Day, this restaurant had few guests.Beautiful place inside, very nice music.

Excellent ingredients beautifully respectfully cooked. The cold antipasto both meat and cheese was excellently sourced and presented. The prawns and mussels were wonderful. The bavette steak was magnificent. We had been before and were worried that standards wouldn’t be the same. We had raved about the place to the friends we were taking. It remains tops.

We had the grilled lamb chops. Nothing wrong! Dessert was frosted Orange Ice Cream. Service good, staff friendly. Lovely atmosphere, transported Paris Place Royale. Worth coming back.

Au Bouchon Rouge Brasserie
Very underwhelming experience. Only one waiter on duty, he was friendly and tried his best but really needed support. All the tables were reserved so can't say management were surprised by an influx of patrons.Ordered Oyster started, fresh, but nothing special. Mains was Mussel pot, 50% of the mussels weren't open. 2nd mains was a sirloin which was of low quality and no presentation. Wasn't even offered desert. Bill was sent back 3 times to correct. (Last return was due to oysters being omitted from the bill. Can't say we will be back.

My partner and I just happened upon this romantic and intimate French restaurant nestled in the heart of Riebeck Kasteel and we were blown away! He got the mussel pot (which was 1kg of tender garlic buttery goodness!) and I got the Kingclip which was so tender in the centre and the sides that came with it complimented the dish so well. The service was phenomenal - shout-out to Jack who was a pure delight and elevated our experience. We also loved that the chef is very involved and would bring out dishes himself and was happy to receive any feedback. If you’re in Riebeck Kasteel, I highly suggest coming to Au Bouchon Rouge Brasserie! You will not be disappointed. I know we’re looking forward to our return.

Au Bouchon Rouge Brasserie
We returned to Riebeek Kasteel and as we did last time we visited au Bouchon Rouge. Again like last time we went on Friday night and as it was so good we booked again for Saturday night. Very pleasant setting with outside seating, Paris Bistro style. Lovely French music playing in the background. Food was as good as I have tasted in any Parisian bistro and I have been to many. Starters, salmon tartare was fresh with dill and citrus flavours served with a sweet slightly toasted bread was delightful , the garlic snail with homemade bread were gorgeous. Mains Prawns flambéed in pastis cooked to perfection, lamb chops well seasoned with salt, pepper and herbs were very flavoursome, mussel pot with chips and homemade mayonnaise. Everything except the mussels was served with a ratatouille that could have easily been eaten on its own packed with flavour. Desert a good selection of sorbets, melon / mango and peach a some upside down fig tart. Everything was very tasty. Craig our waiter on both nights was attentive, knowledgeable without being intrusive. Julian the owner/ chef is not only excellent at creating great dishes, he is also very friendly and usually makes an appearance at the end of the night. Keep up the great work. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back again.

This is a French restaurant that a friend recommended and introduced us to the chef. The food was fantastic and delicious.
