I've used Amptex twice now. The first experience was really good as they were able to service a rare generator when I could not find another supplier.My second experience was however extremely disappointing. I asked them to repair a generator that was not providing electricity and advised they should service it too. They completed the repairs incrementally doing the service and replacing the AVR, resulting in a bill of R6000. The generator however was not returned to full power and I was then advised it would cost a further R15k and it would be more worthwhile to replace it. This was after spending R6K that could have been better saved towards the new unit.The timeline took a month end to end. During the process I engaged the office which was often not responsive. They asked me to work through the technician directly.When I then complained about the lack of resolution, they called me immoral for dealing directly with their technician. They cited an example where I offered the technician overtime pay if he could simply come through late at night after missing an appointment and after having not had power for more than 3 weeks. This was overtime in addition to the fees I had to pay them. I really take offense at being called immoral when they asked me explicitly to deal with the technician. I also paid for services upfront in full in good faith despite them only asking for partial deposits.I understand that residential customers may not be extremely profitable, but they can still take them seriously.If you do choose to use Amptex due to lack of alternatives I would recommended that you do not pay upfront and you also get them to focus on the fault first before asking for unnecessary expenses like services. In my case I spent R2k servicing a unit that essentially can't be used again.

Generator repair, which had to be done by the supplier where we bought the generator at the end after we already paid R3k, overpriced and bad service, then they charged another R1k to collect and deliver, which meant they left it at the front door and we had to carry it upstairs. All Petrol was also removed from the Generator before it was returned and we had to buy petrol to test it. Would not recommend or use them ever again.
