Sometimes the intense excitement which precedes the reality is dwarfed by the awe of the actual moment.Where leopard legends, centipedes, grumpy baboons and other wild critters of various shapes and sizes with the least of their often quite potent resistance simply have to make way for pure joy .. as long as you, little human, don’t stray too far and unexpectedly find your place in the natural order of the food pyramid.Off the grid, yet with sun seeking electrical and comfort addiction, riding beautiful roaring mechanical machines along the beaten and unbeaten tracks, criss-crossing rivers and rapids with destination happiness and laughter around warming camp fires that glitter in reflection of the starry expanse just visible through the lush bushveld and waning full moon above.There, with freshly baked stick-bread and heated meaty odours marking the moment, we relax to be ready for the next day’s rocky crawling repeat of something truly fantastic .. camaraderie beyond words.
