Delmas Crane Hire

Be careful when dealing with this company, we recently had the misfortune of interacting with them. We explained what we required a crane for, one of their staff members went to the site to complete a site survey/visual inspection and confirmed that the crane they were providing us would be suitable for what we needed it for.When we arrived on site the day of the crane hire, we immediately realised that it was not fit for purpose (A hanging basket would not allow us access under the roof to run cabling) and called them to inform them. I spoke to the gentleman who completed the site survey and explained to him why it was not going to be suitable.He said he would come and collect the crane bucket and the crane left site back to their yard a few kilometres away.When I called them asking if we could be refunded minus whatever costs were incurred for the delivery, I was informed that we are being billed the full invoice and that no refund would be entertained whatsoever, they flat out refused.If they had let me know that we would be billed the full amount I may have been able to use the crane for a small part of the job using some of the hours, we paid for but there was no mention of this to me on the day!!It's also worth mentioning that he driver of the crane was very rude, he never got out of his cab to speak to me about what options we could use the crane for or see if we could make a plan with it, he cracked his window a little bit to communicate with us and it seemed that he really didn't want to be there.I would have expected some kind of onsite supervision from the company on delivery so we could have discussed our options in detail.Overall, this experience has left a rather bitter taste in my mouth as I would never treat a customer the way Delmas Crane Hire has treated me and my small business, we are all just trying to make a living in these tough market conditions and a little understanding and compassion would go a long way.
