Checkers Big Bay

A good selection but suffers from poor management. The store is often chaotic and messy, and has made some very questionable layout choices (like having to force your way through both all the customers leaving and a Starbucks queue between the entrance and trolly corral). The staff seem quite disengaged in general, and there's no joint queue so expect to wait a while if you come at a busy time or get stuck behind someone with an item that doesn't scanTake care with expiration dates as I have found long expired goods on the shelves (and once in sixty60 order too)

Lots of parking with easy access. If you buy icecream I recommend that you check the quality first. I often had to take a tub of icecream back because it was refrozen after being thawed. So lift the lid and check before you buy.

Bought a Bar One chocolate cake! it was perfect and fresh. If you running out of time and celebrating a birthday, go find a gem cake at Checkers. You won't be disappointed.

This is a very smart Checkers, they don't only cater for your weekly grocery shop, they also have great selections for when you're entertaining. The store is laid out well, clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Generally a very nice supermarket, but when we went there last you could smell a rotten meat smell as you walk into the door. The smell got worse and very strong as you approached the red meat section, which is what we went there for. Very off putting. Bad management controls.

I've been shopping here for about 10 years. Friendliness of staff has improved a bit. Still room for improvement. Hopefully in a year or so I can give it 5 stars.

February 2023For 4 nights we stayed in the Big Bay Beach Club resort - a mere 800 meters away. Twice I walked to Checkers (WITH THE WIND AGAINST ME!) - what a great Checkers!!!!Bought at the fish counter a portion of battered fried calamari. OH MY YUM! They were tender and juicy!!!!!!Great shopping experience.

Such a wonderful shopping experience at this Checkers! Shelves are always fully stocked, the store is immaculate, and the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly! Their fresh food sections are beautifully displayed, and their cooked meals are delicious, I often buy sushi from the store, which is fresh and well priced.

I've been shopping here for many years. Most staff are helpful, friendly and respectful. I'm pleased to experience most specials being in stock these days. I've also been enjoying the 60app and the convenience of deliveries, however, Unfortunately I had a situation where I returned earphones that didn't work and 2 boxes of unopened wine, as it was awful. I took screen shots of the order from my app before I left home as proof, but when I got to the store for a refund that wasn't good enough. I was exhausted that day so just left the items with customer care, walked out and saw it as a loss. I really can't understand why the slip is such an issue when it can be seen from the app screenshot, and an exchange wouldve sufficed. Stupid rules, really. Nevertheless. It's a lovely, clean organised store.
