What a little gem just outside of Elliot. Pay no attention to the condition of the town itself, this place is absolutely beautiful. We had a very comfortable overnight stay with a spectacular view of the Southern tip of the Drakensberg mountains and sheep grazing in front of us, as it's a working farm. The stone cottage we stayed in was perfect and had everything we needed for our far too short stay.

I made a booking through SafariNow and then left Matatiela to head towards Elliot. What I didn't know was that JJ and Ockert were leaving early the next morning and had not confirmed my booking. I must have looked devistated at the thought of going back the 5km to Elliot and trying to find somewhere else to stay on a Sunday evening. They provided an excelent room for the night and added a farmhouse breakfast the following morning. Country hospitality at its best.

What a view! Navigating the potholed roads through the town of Elliot is not a bother, being South African 'n all. Exiting the Saligna lined road keep your head out of the cockpit and you'll be pleasantly surprised to see the Guardians have kept watch over your sleeping place for eons.Greeted by sheep and working dogs you're welcomed to this spectacular farm setting.Very comfortable sleeping quarters and a full English brekkie. Yummy!This place is a must for a weary traveller with much to 'baa' about.Keep it local and come see for yourselves.Thank you to the hosts.

Absolutely amazing place to stay with beautiful scenery and lovely restaurant on the site. Food was delicious and staff was very friendly and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer

This accommodation is on a very beautiful working farm, about 7km from the town of Elliot. The dirt road can be tricky to navigate if the rains have been heavy - just enquire with the owners beforehand. There is also a restaurant on the farm where we had a delicious meal. Check and book ahead of time if you want to eat there.

Did a last minute stop over in Ellitot . The road to the Guardians is a good 12-15 mins from town in a sedan so make sure you add this to your travel time. I have stopped there 3 times now and each and every time I hope the roads have improved but they havent. The owners didnt do a curiously room check before we arrived and the fridge was unplugged and there were previous guests clothes left in the cupboard. The bath was minute. It was convenient and the added addition of the restaurant is a win and the food fresh. Awesome setting but didnt feel like there was value for money this time round.

Unbelievable views, beautiful rustic stone mason lodges, romantics dream. Even has a Chappell for weddings. Only thing is the road to get here, definitely not for smaller vehicles, SUVs to land cruiser will be fine.

If you are black then you will get very poor service there. The restaurant Manager, Dean, was very rude to us. He chased us away saying we had been there for too long. We were a party of 7 and we spent R2500 at the restaurant but apparently our money was not good enough for him. He was only nice to white people. Their waitress Vuyo was very friendly to us, trying to make up for her boss’s despicable behaviour
