Dwesa Nature Reserve: Chalets and Campsite
Quiet , clean , safe, more than enough to explore. Nature and Marine Reserve. Beautiful camp sites and chalets. No electricity. No shop. No restaurant.Chalets have lights powered by solar panels connected to batteries. Chalets also have gas stove and plates that work well. Chalets have gas fridge / freezer, which unfortunately do not work very well due to humidity. But it is still very useful.Chalets are well equipped and furnished.Communal freezer space is available at offices at reserve entrance. This should be useful for visitors who do not have their own camping freezer. Especially if you plan on staying for longer than a week. The reserve is approximately 10000 ha and has more than enough roads to explore for the 4x4 enthusiasts. It would be appreciated if reserve management and the rangers could make an effort to have educational literature regarding the reserve available for visitors. Eg a proper map for sale. A proper list of animal and bird species in reserve. More displays in the education centre - currently the displays are still from 1976! Replace faded lables at displays. Eg opening the doors of the educational centre for an hour every day or display times clearly that visitors can come to the centre (even only a few selected days for an hour at a time ) , and a ranger on duty at that time to answer any questions visitors have .Best holiday option for an in season holiday at the sea " in South Africa. We cannot wait for our next visit"

Dwesa Nature Reserve: Chalets and Campsite
This place is very nice when you like nature best to have 4×4 but small car can drive if not wet ..service is not best we had to go to the gate to get lights the rooms were not having lights on due to solar maintenance..all other appliances are gased which is good. But it's a fores the must be lights we end up using 2 chalets that were having lites in 5 that we booked. ..if the cold be hiking trails or some sort of to do things would be very nice.

It is a beautiful place with a stunning beach, but the cabins need alot of maintenance and the solar system doesn't really work.

Dwesa Nature Reserve: Chalets and Campsite
Great place for camping. Not busy out of season. Pristine bush, good birding and magic coastline. Keep an eye open for monkeys.

Dwesa Nature Reserve: Chalets and Campsite
The campsite had no dirtbin, power outlet or any lights and the grass needed to be cut. The ablutions were however very nice, hot water and clean, but they only have one for the massive campsite. Little disappointed.

What a lovely out-of-the-way campsite in a Coastal forest reserve. But there are several areas where there could be some improvement. Firstly, the grass at the campsites hasn't been cut for a while and it's not nice walking around in long grass, especially at night and early morning when it's full of dew!secondly, we camped in the caravan sites (very funny, don't think you can get a caravan to Dwesa safely!) Which means you must cross a cable and log bridge to get to the ablutions. Quite fun, but not at night and not for the older travelers! The ablutions are old (the men's wasn't working so they also used the ladies) and have a common change room. No electricity there, but copious amounts of gas heated hot water !A huge disappointment to us was the fact that all the internal roads are too overgrown and too badly deteriorated to explore the large reserve.

True nature experience, friendly staff. Camping sites bathrooms are very rural, be prepared to shower hostel style. Beautiful, peaceful exiting times with monkeys trying to steel your meat right in front of you.

Dwesa Nature Reserve: Chalets and Campsite
Really an amazing off the grid camping area where cell signal is limited and wild nature is unlimited especially with the bird life around the Nature Reserve. The best was having the whole campsite to ourselves.Absolutely worth a visit if you wanting to get away from fast paced life.

Dwesa Nature Reserve: Chalets and Campsite
This small gem of a coastal nature reserve is a must for forest lovers. Located at the mouth of Dweza river. There is ample camping areas but the ablutions are very limited. Camping and chalets are in the forest, a short walk from the beach. The Alpine style 4 sleeper chalets are comfortable but has some maintenance challenges. All chalets are quite far from parking, with steep steps leading to them. Not for toddlers or someone with any form of mobility problems. You'll need your own braai utensils. Wood is available at reception, but was unusablly wet when we were there. Be monkey aware, especially the little albino may come into the chalets. The road to the park takes at least 3.5 hours from the highway, a high clearance vehicle is a must to get there, but in the park you'll need a 4×4. The roads in the park are narrow and not used a lot, the sides of your vehicle will be scratched. Think tunnels in a forest, but wonderful for forest exploration and birding. The guided walk is a must.
