River View Cottage - at the Breede

Everything you need for a super relaxing getaway. The cottage was very comfortable, spotless, beautifully decorated and generally had a lovely atmosphere. The views of the river were magical and it was so peaceful. We traveled with our dog who adored being able to join us. Sundowners was a highlight! Would definitely recommend!!

This is our second visit to Witsand and we love it.River view cottage is lovely with everything you can need. Comfortable furnishings, dstv, wifi, extra . Even a small dishwasher. etc. Also very clean.Theresa who checked us in was very friendly and helpful.My only disappointment is the location of the unit within the complex.It's the first unit next to the gate and the only real views from the patio are the back of the restaurant and the gate so it was noisy and no privacy. I was greated by staff arriving at 7am while drinking my tea on the patio. However, this is a welcome get-away and I can recommend it especially if you are interested in getting out early to enjoy the fishing etc.

Wish I could go back. River View Cottage is my sister's holiday accommodation on the Breede River. It was the first time we stayed and were blown away. Secure parking with remote gate and a short walk through to the cottage. The cottage is one of the few original cottages later renovated and added to the lodge. Genuine thatch roof and stark thick white walls. It's a real South African beauty! The cottage is well laid out so its totally spacious for four adults to share without losing its cosy charm. Everyone wanted the loft room with its thatched roof and skylight window with river view! The shower bathroom is hot and spacious and easy access as a guest loo, the main bedroom en suite has a good size bath I soaked away the day surrounded by classic clay tiles, white walls, wood trims and fluffy towels, it's heaven. The attention to detail is awesome and it's a treat to enjoy all the special touches, the colors and decor are a holiday for your the eyes. I loved the walk out balcony, the bird life and lawned garden with braai out back. Braai in the sunshine after a swim in the river which is so warm! Stunning to walk and explore along the river banks and out to the river mouth the sea. Shop at little markets to buy bread and jams fresh produce, crafts and other country delights! Although the cottage is an easy walk to the restaurant (yummy) it was lovely and quiet as I enjoyed the stars from the balcony. Make a fire and cosy up at night or take a stroll along the small Harbour and listen to the water. The cottage has everything and I mean everything you need even hot water bottles! Take a break from the world and let this little gem of a cottage restore your soul. THANKS AISSA WE LOVED IT!!

I’ve just had my second visit to River View Cottage on the Breede. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s such a stunning place for a break away. The cottage is self-catering and if you don’t feel like prepping meals it’s close to the local restaurants. If you have to attend to a little business (like I did and keep up with current affairs) it offers WiFi and DSTV. Another plus is having access to the Breede River Lodge swimming pool. You need to take your own towels. Otherwise, everything else you could wish for is there. Well equipped. I believe for those interested in fishing, it’s the place to be. I highly recommend it. River View Cottage on the Breede is the perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday or just a weekend away. Accommodate up to four people in the beautifully furnished, animal friendly thatched cottage. Only 3 hours from Cape Town. You have the best of all worlds in one setting. Easy access to the river for fishing in the river or use the river mouth to go deep sea fishing. With the high tide pushing up the river popular sea fish are caught in the river. Take a walk next to the river all the way to the beach if you prefer to swim in the sea. The Pili Pili restaurant is on your doorstep. Watch the boats on the river and fisherman bringing their catch of the day home from the deck while enjoying lunch, dinner or just drinks. There are many attractions in the area to explore. Only 35km from Heidelberg if you need anything that the local shops cannot provide. Cannot wait for my next trip and stay at River View Cottage.
