Leeuwenbosch Country House and Shearers Lodge

My family of 6 stayed for 2 nights. The staff were extremely accommodating, friendly and professional. The early morning game ride was made even better by a very informative ranger. The food was wholesome n tasty. Highly recommended.

Booked 3 nights here. Great service and hospitality from the minute we arrived till we left. Game drives were the main purpose of our visit and they didn't disappoint. To make things even better the food from the light breakfast through brunch, high tea to dinner were great as were the drinks and snacks during the drives. If ever in this area again would certainly consider another visit. Thanks Bill, Rose and your team.

What a fantastic experience at Leeuwenbosch Country House! Wonderful people and superb food. We loved the game drives - very knowledgeable ranger and we saw a vast array of animals and birds. We saw 52 species of birds in 3 days. Comfortable accommodation and friendly staff. We will definitely go back for another visit.

We didn't stay at Leeuwenbosch but when we were lost at night and couldn't find the accommodation that we booked, the owner of the house and Kate and especially Steve went out of their way to contact our camp and help us find it. They were very kind and helpful to us. The house is stunning and has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The next day we booked a Safari with Leeuwenbosch which was absoultely amazing and we saw so many animals and had a delicious lunch. Thank you so much Steve and co. for helping us out and calming us down when we were lost.

We had a wonderful stay at Leeuwenbosch and received 5-star service from them, their team really go the extra mile to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. Great home cooked meals and very exciting game drives. Saw most of the big 5 on most of the drives with a very knowledgeable game ranger. Will definitely be back soon!

The most magical place on earth.We had the warmest welcome upon arrival. The house and rooms are so quaint.We had Warthogs grazing on the front garden outside our rooms, we made friends in the pub and the food was just amazing, I'm a vegetarian and this was taken into account at each meal. Sindy was our host for 3/4 times per day and she always had a smile and a kind word.The team here are the friendliest people, I felt so at home here. After months of anticipation and not knowing what to expect, I can honestly say, this was home from home. Thank you all.

Amakhala consists of several old farms which decided to give up farming and start as a game lodge (years back). So nature reconquered the plantations and ecologists supervise the balance of animals. Leeuwenbosch is one of these old farms.We did two game drives (afternoon and early morning) which are included in the room tariff. Ranger Eubut is phenomenal, he shares many information about animal and plants and their habitat. We saw Cheetas, Elephants, Black Rhinos, Hippos and all kinds of Antilopes, Birds and small animals. Amazing!Food (which is all inclusive) was excellent and served by extremely friendly personnel. Extra point: there is a pub where you can sit with other guests before / after evening dinner and have a drink and chat.Bottom line: Very pleasant stay, very nice game experience. Recommendation!

Simply a lovely relaxing place to stay. The safari was brilliant too. Food and service excellent.Good location to go and see the surrounding area.

My husband and I found last-minute accommodation at Leeuwenbosch Country House after all their international bookings were cancelled due to the latest COVID wave. After 3 nights at the beautifully appointed Country House, we are leaving reluctantly, but with lovely memories and the intention to return again as soon as we can.Leeuwenbosch has a naturally warm and hospitable atmosphere, where we felt both special and completely at ease. The Country House has large en-suite rooms that are spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated to convey the unique history and character of the lodge, which incidentally hosted a member of the British Royal Family recently.We are both vegan and were treated to a wide variety of delicious and thoughtfully prepared meals.The game reserve is home to an amazing variety of African wildlife, including the Big Five and our knowledgeable guide gave us a truly enjoyable and memorable experience of the Eastern Cape bushOverall, Leeuwenbosch Country House is well worth a visit and we can’t wait to come back to this wonderful place again soon.
