SAPS Vehicle Clearance Unit Stikland

Spend hours to get a service only to find out I'm in a wrong place based on an area I live in. Wish the security at the gate would ask people where they live to avoid such. Or at leasthave a board outside that indicates the areas serviced. The staff is so unfriendly.

I am next to have my vehicle checked after I Waited hours only to be told to come back tomorrow as load shedding started(Understandable)HOWEVER COME BACK TOMORROW AND STAND AT THE BACK OF THE LINE AGAIN.

The system are very slow. In Dec I was told that they didn't except driver lic you must have your ID. I asked if my ID could be wats app or mailed it was it was refused as they apparently need to take a pic of the ID and if it was either wats app or mailed it would not be of the quality they wanted.I drove all the way back to Strand to collect it.When I got there the lady only opened it looked at me closed the ID and gave it back to me.Time, feul wasted.The system blocked them to change the Vin no . The documents then had to be forwarded to head office. It took them from 20 Dec until 15 Jan 2023 after numerous calls to follow it up to collect the doc.The second time I went with another vec the no was allocated to 3 other vec ( 1 was a stolen vec) they had to stamp new numbers.The person in charge of it told me he only work on appointments ( only 5 cars a day). Whilst there was no one else there I was told to come back in 2 days.Back to Strand again.When I gat back they then asked for doc again I told them that I gave them all the doc . Long storie short they lost the doc.I was then told that the reg dic could be mailed before they can stamp the new no.Waited 2 hours as there e mails are very slow, I then went across to the lady at the data dot she then helped me to get the copy printed. Went back still they didn't receive my mail.After that I was told that I must pay R150.00 to the guy who would stamp the number I asked what for o I was told didn't any one told you. Whilst there are signs up about giving staff gift ext it's a crime and the service are free.I eventually paid the guy got every thing sorted after 4 hours.Very very slow and unnecessary red tape

Honestly can't complain..Service was goodStaff friendlyProcess was quick and easy..Make sure all your documents are ready and correct.Make sure you know where your engine number is and its clear and visible etc.Make sure you know where your VIN sticker or plate is before going for inspection.

Although I was at the wrong place the gentleman who was behind the counter help to get to the right place very gentle and helpful❤️

Didn't have to wait too long. I guess it depends where you are in the que and if you have all the correct documents with you. Could be more direction and signage to show you where to go and what go do... But overall not a bad experience.
