Truly a wonderful experience is the least I can put on this review. The lady that looked after us made it an experience we wil not easily forget.Food , service and friendliness is the order of the day. I highly recommend using this institution. Cozy location, close to amenities and Estcourt town centre. Room was comfortable, had a good night's rest and lovely warm shower. Garden cottage close to the main entrance road to Estcourt so heavy vehicles passing can be disturbance for light sleepers, rather book in main house if this will be a challenge. Otherwise a great venue all round with friendly and accommodating staff.Edit : Had a further opportunity to stay at this venue, this time in the main house, and it was perfect. Spacious room, Quite and peaceful, comfortable stay. Definitely worth a visit, recommended.

Lovely place to stay. Very close to Estcourt city centre. The place has Cape dutch old style feel. Its an old house but well taken care of. We stayed there for 4 days in December. They were even able to accommodate us for a 5th day at short notice. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was very spacious, clean and organized. The rood had a working tv with a dstv connection, a kettle, a bar fridge, microwave, couch, sitting table and chairs and a very comfortable king sized bed. Bedding and linen was changed every day. The room was also cleaned everyday.

We were greeted by the warmest and friendliest staff who even helped us take our bags to our room. The room was spacious enough, kitted out with sufficient mosquito protection, which worked perfectly, and the basics inclusive of microwave, fridge with freezer section, kettle, coffee etc. en suite bathroom was basic but sufficient and the bedroom had an outside door leading to the most beautiful porch with stairs leading to breathtaking garden. Food was ample and delicious. Will definitely stay here again even if it was just for the excellent service.

It was nice and peaceful. The welcoming is excellent. The rooms are neat and clean. Guess are treated well. Breakfast is impressive.

The river Guest house is a perfect place to stay. Located 45 minutes from trail depature of Drakensberg, it is a good alternative to the overpriced guesthouses nearer to the mountain trekks. The Host is extremely welcoming and the place very comfortable.
