A must stop through Somerset East. The curator is willing to open up upon request, if outside normal hours. Watch the DVD for a greater understanding and then take in the art.

Walter Battiss was not only a magical person but an an artist who had the cunning ability to make the viewer's brain create it's own magic through his paintings. One of a kind❤Gallery is in gorgeous old house in Somerset East. Do not miss the Walter Battiss gallery or the town.

A fascinating look into the life and art of Walter Battiss. Not only his art but the historical building in which it is housed are well worth the visit. The curator is well informed and shared information about not only the gallery but Somerset East itself.

Walter Battiss Foundation
The Walter Battiss was an unforseen stop but one that was definitely worthwhile. The curator is extremely warm and welcoming and has fascinating facts and information regarding the artist. Beautiful WB art pieces are on display in this historically significant building along with a few separately featured artists. The AV equipment makes a 45min video of WB available if you have that amount of time available for this stop!

A special, special place dedicated to a special person! The 45min DVD was delightful and it was wonderful to have an insight into Batiss' mind!!! Ross is an excellent curator and passionate about the museum under her care!!
