The Aloes Farm - The Studio & The Gallery

The Studio is a real gem. If you are looking for a rural setting with less than a 10 min drive to a Pick n Pay, this place is perfect! There is so much attention to detail, right from our welcome by Shelagh, to the homemade hot chocolate and muesli, not forgetting the doggie blankets and treats for our dogs. Every switch was labeled, all instructions to help you to use things were so precise and clear. The place is so homely with luxurious touches like the towels and bedding and handmade soaps. Every convenience was available to make our stay so comfortable. It's peaceful and beautiful. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Our family had the privilege of staying at The Gallery on Aloes Farm near Hilton. What a gem! The house is so welcoming and comfortable with every detail carefully thought through. Located close to Hilton and Howick but immersed in nature. A perfect getaway. Highly recommend.

Such a treat to stay at such a well equipped,clean and super friendly self catering spot.The attention to detail really reflects the hosts heart for you to have the best carefree and relaxing time possible. The views are beautiful and the surroundings peaceful with lots of walks to enjoy if you are feeling energetic. We really could not have asked for more and are very thankful we had the opportunity to stay at the Aloes!

Small but bearable dirt road that leads up to this Lil gem of an accommodation in Hilton. One of the most tastefully decorated accommodations (incl original artworks) filled with all the essentials and more. We were greeted with a welcome sign, home made muesli and hot chocolate. The outside fire pit and lovely lawn was ideal for the family to gather. The rooms were spacious and bathrooms even better. Highly recommend to relax and leave the busy city behind.

This was a gem of a place to stay. Shelagh was a warm and attentive hostess. The Aloes studio is beautifully appointed. A wonderful welcoming log fire, with a comfortable lounge, kitchen and spacious bedrooms and excellent outdoor area. Creative flare and touch throughout the studio to make it feel like home.

Our stay at The Studio was nothing short of blissful. The host was extremely welcoming, friendly and accomodating.The venue is beautiful and stocked with all the creature comforts to make you feel at home. Lovely homely touches such as soap, hot cholcolate and granola (all home made).We were unfortunate enough to book when it was rainiing and the power went out, but lucky enough to have a fire place and gas stove to meet all our needs.On the day of departure there were no new bookings and the host graciously offered us a later check-in. We were afraid that the day we were leaving, there was a flood in Durban and she also kindly offered us a free night stay to ensure our safety. We decided to leave anyway and she even messaged to check that we arrived safely.Lovely stay, great amenities and hospitable host. Highly recommended!

Our stay at The Gallery was just perfect! The cottage is so well furnished and decorated with everything we needed. The view from the veranda is almost worth the trip! The moon rising on our last evening with fire flies dashing in the night is something we will remember for a long time. Shelagh made us feel like valued guests and went above and beyond for us. It’s a magic spot!

We stayed in The Gallery cottage. It is big, beautifully furnished with 2 really big luxurious rooms each with a bathroom and then a smaller kids’ room. The fittings are wonderful, nothing has been scrimped on. The kitchen has proper working order utensils, for example, really great crockery and …. Everything works. The view from the house goes on forever and the walking is spectacular. At night there is a fire pit to sit around, a Weber if you want to braai and a comfortable verandah with couches if you want to sloth.I’ve stayed in many really great self-catering guesthouses in Hilton and surrounds, this tops the lot, by a lot.(By the way, there’s also a spa bath in the main bedroom… and you can actually see inside the cupboards where you put your clothes)

What an amazing and peaceful getaway! I recently spent a few nights at the studio and all I can say is WOW! From the comfy linen, fully stocked kitchen to the gorgeous patio and beautifully decorated walls, the studio really is a luxury home away from home. And it’s pet friendly too! I had such an amazing time there. And the host Shelagh is as beautiful on the inside as she is out. Couldn’t have picked a better spot for a relaxing getaway from the city. Definitely going back ❤️
