Awestruck by the history hidden in this gem of a museum.

Such a nice guide

This is one of the most interesting museums I've visited for ages. The curator is a well of fascinating information. What makes this museum so special though is the incredible collection of art, mostly depictions of the Cape back through history. There is an interesting collection of photos of plants from the area and history of the Jewish influence in the early days of Riversdale. Well worth a visit.

This museum is dedicated to the history of Riverdale and the surrounding area. The museum contains implements used by the original inhabitants of the region, photos of nearby rock art, a vast collection of slides of local flora, a nice collection of local newspapers from the 1890s on and a small library of books (in English and Afrikaans) about the area. Much of the museum is dedicated to lifestyle and history of white settlers in the area most of whom were Afrikaners but also many were of Jewish heritage. Furniture, paintings, farm tools, household implements (including a large number of sewing machines and even an old pre- electric washing machine), dishes, cutlery, are on display. There's even a famous sheep killing and dog evading fox (preserved by a taxidermist) on display. The museum curator is a delightful lady who gave us a memorable tour of the museum. Highly recommend!

Wonderful, do not miss this house.

What a great surprise. This is a well maintained history collection of Riverdale and surrounding. The curator give us a guided tour. The display is brilliant. This is more than a visit worth. As no photo's were allowed to be taken, it makes it more to visit the Centre.
