Rustic and peaceful!

We had the most amazing stay at Long Thin Farm - we stayed at Milkwood Cottage over the long weekend with our 2 small children. The cottage was perfect, with the most beautiful views over the river. It was a very peaceful stay, with lots of bird life to enjoy. The river is a short stroll away through the Olive orchard and we spent lots of time down by the river.

Tucked away from the mad rush, you'll find this tranquil breakaway spot. You'll be treated to sweeping views and gorgeous landscapes. There's plenty of bird life to appreciate and hiking is a must to see every part of the region to maximise your stay. On a hot day the river is a cool dipping and swimming area. This one's for the nature lover!

Spectacular stay! I am so happy we found this house for the long weekend. We stayed at the Main House which overlooks the river and have a swimming pool. The house is beautiful and was extremely clean and very well equipped. Also everything in the house is the best quality. It is so peaceful, and the views are amazing. There is wifi and battery back up during loadshedding for the wifi and they also have rechargeable lights that helped a lot. It was really amazing and we can definitely recommend.

Tranquil hideaway

The recent 2022/23 summer break marked our 10th anniversary of staying at Long Thin Farm. And with every visit, we fall in love with the simplicity and warmth of the place a little bit more. For our family, we enjoy the fact that the farm is away from the busy crowds – up the tidal Goukou river – which means we get the best of feeling immersed in nature (where we can inhale the floral scents, marvel at the starry night skies or bob in the river) and the ability to pop into Stillbaai to surf or swim at the beach, snorkel at the fish traps or go fishing. It's well priced accommodation underpinned by a welcoming atmosphere which is best summed up by the hospitable warm smile of Elvis, who always makes sure you have everything you need.
