I requested an estimate for repairs - not even a formal quote, but just an idea of how much to budget, more or less. I received no feedback. I followed up twice and have now been told it is impossible to give an estimate if the car is not already 'in progress'. Good thing I was able to get an idea of the workshop before leaving my car there.
