Amazing Birdwatching setting. Hide is very comfortable. A lot of birdlife in the area, including some birds you don't come across very often.

Excellent and we'll known birding venue on the North Coast. Bird hide and walks around ponds. Best birding when the water is low. Sign indemnity at the offices of Sappi Mill and collect keys to Gate and bird hide.

A bit off the beaten track. You’ll first need to get keys to the gate from the security at Sappi to enter the bird hide. I’d recommend researching what times the different birds are usually spotted. The hide is well maintained, safe and a good quiet spot.

Sappi must do a much better job of looking after the hide. It’s overgrown with Hyacinth and needs general maintenance. It’s staff has taken over the small road right next to the gate, to lie around and do nothing. Not at all like in the old days. Very disappointing
