LIBERTY BOOKS

We always find something when visiting Liberty books next to Peregrines Grabouw. Actually we always find way too many books. Budget, budget, budget for this visit!

Coolest little bookstore. The fire going made it a warm haven on a cold day. Beautiful reading nook and church windows are completely Instagramable. The whole mezzanine floor dedicated to the children section is Uber cool. The cat snoozing in front of the fire was the cherry on top. Love that they sell second hand books too. The shop assistant was very helpful and directed me to the exact book I was after.

Liberty Books at Peregrines is a treasure trove for bibliophiles unlike many I have stumbled across. It’s almost as if I have filled it with the books I’d most want in a book shop. I think some are new, some mostly new and some are used. There are books here that have possibly found their way here from private collections. Schedule an extra hour for browsing when passing Peregrines, and enjoy.

An independent bookstore with an informed and passionate owner, and superbly curated collection of new and used books. Active and well supported bookclub. Fits right in with the great but woefully rare tradition of bookstores that make a positive difference in their community and anyone who may venture in. Go there.

Lovely spot with such cool shelves. I really loved the stock as well. However I was a bit disappointed by the confusion of pricing. In the second-hand section, I found a book that on the inner page had a certain price (which most second-hand books do) that I was comfortable paying, but it was significantly lower to the sticker on the back. When I went to pay, I was made to pay the one on the back. I felt uncomfortable as I didn't want to seem unwilling to pay but I do feel that if there are two prices, I should've been able to pay the one I thought it was. It was four times higher. Secondly, I google the price of the book and it was R40 cheaper for a brand new copy.

A MUST stop! Eclectic and wonderfully designed bookstore. Buy even better was conversing with Christina!
