Barksole Stellenbosch

Really poor service. Handed in a pair of leather sandals to be sent off to receive a quote for the replacement of the sole (and paid a deposit). I was supposed to receive a phone call within a few days but never do. I went back to enquire, and was told I would receive a call that day, which of course I did not. It’s been a month and a half and I still haven’t heard anything, and no one answers the phone when I call. I just want my sandals back.

DO NOT use this place.Tuesday 2 May: I took my shoes in for new soles, paid R440 (not cheap!) and I was told to come back on Friday.Friday 5 May: I came back in the morning and was told they weren't ready and I should come in again in the afternoon.Saturday 6 May: I came back. A lady, apparently the manager, is now there and tells me that they have had problems because the man who fixes shoes has left. She says they will call me when they are ready.Wednesday 17 May: I went in again. They guy now tells me they had difficulty finding the right kind of sole. He shows me my shoe with the old sole removed, and the new sole still not attached.Monday 22 May: I went in again. The guy shows me my shoe and the new sole still not attached. Clearly no work has been done since my previous visit. He tells me they have been busy catching up and the shoe will be ready 'tomorrow'.In other words, R440 down, five visits to the shop in the space of almost three weeks, still no shoes, and a different excuse every time.Update Wednesday 24 May: I went in again. Again, the shoe is still without its sole. I reminded the guy that he had promised me the shoe on Tuesday, yesterday. Now the excuse is 'the boss told me to work at another branch'. I look at the sole he is about to fix on my shoe. It is a flat sole with no treads - these were walking shoes that had heavy treads. I told him to put the same kind of sole that were on the shoes before. He says he will have to ask the boss to bring them from another branch.

Extremely poor service. Have to ask many times over more than a month and the shoes are still not done. They had to even search for the shoes. Such a waste of time and money.

We took shoes in for repairs 22 April 2023 and paid up front. Our shoes have not yet been repaired after being told it would take a week. I will never use them again. We're not even sure if we'll get our shoes back as owner cannot be reached.

My three year old Timberland leather boots were damaged by Barksole when worked on in Cape Town. Though I had photos prior to the repair, neither manager or the head of the company would acknowledge the damage or make restitution. I even sent the photos to Timberland USA who said how sorry they were the local shoe repair, Barksole, had damaged my boots. How lovely honesty and restitution for mistakes would have been. The boots are no longer made by Timberland.

I paid R150 deposit for a dog collar and was told that that was the full payment and I wouldn't have to pay again but them when I pick it up, they charged me another R350, and then still spelled the name on said collar wrong. On top of that every time I have been there, I have had to wait forever because the front desk guy works on a permanent go slow.

Average work, shocking communication and never stick to timelines - you’ll have to go back over and over, and hope the job is done.

No complaints. Sometimes a bit slow, but always gets the work done. Simple little store. Cheap.

The shoe repair was mediocre and looked untidy. The repair timeframe is quite long (~ 4 business days) and my shoes were not ready on the day I was told to collect - in fact, the repair had not even begun.So, it was repaired, but could be better.
