THE BOER AND BUTCHER - HAASENDAL

The saloon theme is a great idea, the place itself is wonderfully cosy and family friendly. The food is fantastic, big flavours and more than generous portions that are reasonably priced. Ideal for any meal of the day with great dessert options as well. The establishment also has a proper butcher shop filled with all the cuts you want and a few general products.

Very nice restaurant with a butchery you can select meat from for a grill. Good play area for the kids. Steam punk meets plaas decor.

Numerous times I have bought from the butchery, but after only hearing good things about the restaurant I just had to make a plan to visit. My wife and I decided to visit on a Thursday as they have a burger special running and I can honestly say it is definitely worth it. The burger was very tasty and it came with a decent portion of fries for a very good price. We also tried some of their chili poppers which were nice, however I think the layer of dough surrounding the chili is a bit too thick for my taste. As my wife and I also enjoy craft beer we were glad to see that they have 2 available, namely their Rebel Larger and Rebel Ale. Although we didn't try the larger we really enjoyed the ale. As we visited on burger special day the restaurant was extremely busy and we were fortunate enough to get a table open. Although the kitchen was a bit slow as a result of them being so busy, our waiter was very friendly and informative and, as I mentioned, the burger was very tasty so it was worth the wait.

Being new to the neighborhood I am still exploring. Enjoy the venue but haven't had a meal there yet but like the extensive menu, cannot wait to bring my Grandson so that he can play on the jungle gym while Oupa and Ouma have a meal

Luckily went there on a Tuesday and to find out it is pizza special night so that was a bargain as i have previously tasted some of there pizzas and was great but this time around i can't say the same. Pizzas were very bland for some reason with little to no taste which was very disappointing as I've had much beter there before. Can't find any fault with the beer as it is always a winner on a warm day and my girl enjoyed the coffee freezo. Ended the evening with desert but was very delayed as kitchen lost the slip and waiter only followed up on it after his break so had to wait a while for a desert that only took less than 6min to make but the bar-one pockets was very nice but very sweet but paired well with the ice cream. Service from our waiter was on the very slow side and multiple times had to ask different waiters for assistance so definitely something the place needs to work on.

We went there for supper to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We already had our drinks and our order was in. About 15 min after our order was place we were advised by the waiter that there was an issue with gas and the only option left was pizza. Due to the gas stove and permission from the landlord they were unable to offer the usual dishes. They couldn't provide us with a time. Very disappointing, we paid for our drinks and left to another restaurant. I feel they could've warned us prior to ordering drinks. I feel sorry for the waiter coz we never tripped her but it wasn't even necessary to do so.

Our original plan was to eat at Playalot, but because it was super loud and busy in there, we decided to rather eat at the Boer and Butcher next door! Turns out, this was the perfect choice as the kids were happy to play at the great jungle gym and we could enjoy a proper dinner with pizza, burger and chili poppers. Although my husband loves spicy food, the chili poppers exceeded his expectation and was hotter than expected. Very delicious non-the less and the kids enjoyed a kiddies meal. The kids menu comes on a separate piece of paper and is not part of the regular menu. But the kids can draw on it and color in some animals which is a cute activity while we were waiting for the food.

Wednesday chicken schnitzel special take away! Sjoe! This was a good one. Best chicken schnitzel I've had in a long time. Each bite had a super crunchy outside and a juicy inside. It was also very tender and well spiced. I enjoyed every bite and kept on going back for more. This was supposed to be my dinner but after the first bite, I couldn't stop! And so I finished it at my work before even going home yet. That's how good it was. I dont have much love for coleslaw, but this coleslaw? I loved it. It was rich and creamy! More sauce than the usual one, and it was perfect. I highly recommend anyone to give this meal a try! Thumbs up!
