This was an incredible experience. She released so much muscle tension from my Ankylosing spondylitis and I found it an incredibly emotional experience too. I cried during this massage. Owned and operated by the vivacious Colleen Lottering, Holistic Therapies is more than just a place to relax and unwind: it is a place where healing takes priority.I am met at the door by the lovely Colleen. Her easy and engaging manner is warm and immediately helps put me at ease. We sit down and begin the pre-massage process. I complete the necessary paperwork and am impressed with how detailed and insightful her questions are. One gets the sense that this is more than just another appointment on the schedule: Colleen is fully invested in helping her clients realize their aspirations for seeking this kind of healing experience.Healing is a process and it is often not without pain. As I lie down on the massage table, soothing music and a humidifier gently rumbling in the background, Colleen reassures me that pain is all part of the process but that I should not hesitate to tell her if I am unable to continue. I feel soft but strong fingers begin their work and within minutes I can already sense that I am in the hands of a trained professional with years of experience.I always thought of massaging someone was merely about brute strength: not so with Colleen. She is molding me, sculpting my frame and it’s various attachments with a skill that can only be acquired with years of dedicated application. Throughout my hour long session, Colleen continues to encourage me to breathe and relax. Her voice is low and reassuring.Finally, having pronounced herself happy with her work, I get dressed. A little shakily at first: my muscles have never had such a going over and the experience threatens to overwhelm me. Mostly I am feeling lighter, as if a great weight had been removed from my shoulders. Colleen smiles and tells me “It’s quite normal, you’ll be fine.” And, not for the first time that day, I believe her wholeheartedly.Where some businesses need television advertising campaigns or printed media by the thousands, Holistic Therapies needs only two things: the quality of its service and the warmth of its owner and operator.
