Van Schaik Bookstore Hatfield

This has to be the worst service I have gotten at any shop.I ordered text books online, made the payment and was told the books will be delivered in the next 3-5 days. After 3 day had passed and I have had no form of communication from any of the staff I decided to call them. I was told that they had all my books in stock except for one". To which I responded by saying they can deliver the books that are available because my son needs them for school. 2 days passed and still no sign of the text books.Called them again to ask about my order and they said there has been no movement. I asked if it was possible that I come in and collect the books (since the next day schools were opening) and was told told to do so. I then went to the Hatfield branch to collect the books. Upon my arrival I was told that they are out of stock and I would have to wait. Only got 2 books that day and was told they would deliver the rest to the school.As I am typing this

I experienced very bad service from Mmathapelo when I collected a book at the Hatfield branch on 3 August 2022. I gave her my mobile device to obtain the photo of the reference number for the pickup. Instead of searching for the order, she scrolled through my photos. When I asked her why she is scrolling through my phone, she said that the book is out of stock! Eventually a very friendly guy helped me to get the book. Thank you sir. Unfortunately I did not get your name but Mmathapelo should not be in the front line as she gives Van Schaik's a bad name.

I bought 2 books and it so happened that both books I bought were incorrect, I was assisted by one of staff member by the name of Tshiamo freindly proffessional and he was updating me with everything regarding my refund (my refund was paid way before the their turn around time). I really wish they had the book that I required so that can just endulge more on the good service. I would recommend van schaik to anyone just because of their good and proffessional service

Horrible service. queuing system erratic. No first come, first served basis. Time wasted.

Staff is not helpful. The quote they gave was for books that wasn't on my list. Took forever to read ISBN numbers into computer and still got it wrong. We eventually got what we need from Van Schaik Menlyn

Not a lot of stuff on the floor, but once you find someone they help you quickly.Got what I needed and paid. Service is good.Just need more people on the floor to help those who can't find the thing they came for

Bad service they don't even answer the phone

I considered this rating before I actually gave it, mainly because I was waiting for some form of communication from Van Schaik which I have not received to this day.I purchased a book online from Van Schaik, and the website mentioned that the book was available and would take 3-5 days to deliver. I had waited 3 days only to be told the book was not available and they had to source it from another Van Schaik. The book had finally arrived one week later, longer than the expected period.I received two of the same book (duplicate), and I only purchased one. The one book had come from a Durban branch and one from your Hatfield branch. That is why the order had taken so long!As a matter of honesty and courtesy, I contacted Van Schaik to return the duplicate book. I could have easily kept the book, and sold it to someone else and no one would have known about it.Shockingly I did not receive a formal apology and thank you from Van Schaik for returning their book. My experience from the very beginning had been a negative one, and I will not be purchasing books online from your stores.

Love this place..I always find books I'm looking for.

Convenient location, system showed stock but either couldn't find the book or it wasn't in stock.
