We engaged with David at Davon Construction in the very early stages of looking to purchase a stand on one of the estates around Hoedspruit with a view to building a house. Our early interaction with David gave us the confidence to go ahead and acquire a stand and to build a house while being based 10000km away in Europe. We felt reasonably confident that there was atleast one builder in Hoedspruit we could work with.We asked Davon, along with other local builders to quote on our house at Leadwood Big Game Estate. During the quoting process, one thing stood out for us about Davon. David is very engaging , polite, honest and upfront. Davon's quotes were transparent and David was open to discussing them in great detail. We found this essential for inspiring confidence in the company. Davon's quote wasn't the cheapest quote we obtained, but ultimately it has proven to be a case of 'you get what you pay for'. We were not fazed by the higher quote, as we had seen his work (good finish and good feedback) and unknown to David, obtained references from friends in Hoedspruit and Johannesburg, who wholeheartedly recommended Davon.Building ones home is a stressful process. One is trusting a builder to build one's dream. Conflict is very difficult to avoid and differences of opinion are almost certainly going to arise. Having built our own home in the UK and coming from a construction aligned industry myself, I was acutely aware of this. David managed this process brilliantly. He was quick to respond to problems, pro-actively made suggestions and took on criticism constructively. He is supported by a very able team of managers (in particular Jono and Naas) and contractors. David was also keen to make design suggestions along the build process to improve the end result and add an extra bit of creativity.Davon has delivered a house that we are very proud of. The finishes are very good and have received positive feedback not only from neighbours but also from other builders as well as tradesmen aligned with the building industry. Support from Davon for post construction snags (which are inevitable) has been fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble for David and his team and they are always available to sort out issues with a smile.I must also give credit to David's contractors, particularly Daniel (brickwork contractor), Tshukudu Decking, Glass Planet, Designer Air & Eljon Electrical for brilliantly supporting David in delivering this project.I would not hesitate to recommend Davon to anyone that wants to build a home with that extra bit of flair and most importantly with peace of mind. I myself would definitely use Davon again.Thanks once again to David & team for helping us realise this dream.
