Lis' Swimming School

I initially started at Lis’ swimming school with the simple goal of being able to float, only. A few years down the line, with a few swimming breaks in between, I’ve since smashed that goal and many more (I’ve even signed up for Mid-mar). Not only have my swims been the best start to my mornings, they have been my sanity keeper. Ilonka’s patience, wit and just love for teaching her swimmers has and continues to make this experience a truly life changing one for me, and I’m sure many others. I definitely don’t regret joining Lis’ Swimming School.

It’s truly an excellent place for adults who want to learn how to swim or become better swimmers either for fitness or fun. All my lessons are early morning and I barely miss one so you that tells you a lot.I’ve been getting swimming lessons with Illonka for almost a year now. I first started lessons with her in 2017 when I couldn’t even stand to be in water and unfortunately had to stop because I moved. I resumed the lessons again in 2020 because I really could not find a swimming g instructor who is as good as Illonka. Her approach to making you comfortable in water and a natural swimmer is unmatched. She’s patient and clear and an added bonus is that you also get to meet and play with her lovely dog Lente during your lessons. I am a stronger swimmer now but I don’t think I’m going to stop coming for a while.

My family has been going to Lis' swim school since Lis was in the pool (the kids she taught are 27 now). There was nowhere else I'd take my son - and I haven't regretted a moment. He started with Aquatots with caring teacher Karen; my premature baby couldn't have been in better hands. He's 4 now, and teacher Hayley's tenacity and calming demeanour is unparalleled. Swimming is an imperative skill. The real skill lies in being able to impart the basics of swimming to sometimes-unwilling children, and Lis' swim school is an institute of this skill.I highly recommend!

My 2.5year old daughter has been swimming at Lis’ Swimming School for a year. Their approach is gentle and I like that the parent or care giver is with the little ones in the pool.My daughter absolutely looks forward to her lessons, is safe and confident in the water and is making great progress. Teacher Jenny is wonderful and keeps class dynamic while also challenging.

I’ve had a wonderful experience at Lis’ Swimming school. I was nervous about taking swimming lessons since I wear glasses and can’t see without them. From the start, the staff were very accommodating, signing up and assessment were very straightforward and I haven’t had any issues in this regard.My instructor Ilonka has been great. As I’ve learned the proper techniques for different strokes, I have felt the improvement in my performance. I also enjoy the lessons becuase my instructor is great at both challenging and encouraging me. The swimming lesson has become the best part of my week!

Before Lis' I tried 2 other local schools whichcan't even compare. Started with Jenny in the younger group, now with Hailey, my anxious 5 year old is now such a confident swimmer who is water safe. Such lovely teachers.

Our child started at Lis' school as a baby and is now a 6 year-old with a passion for swimming! Cathy has been an incredible teacher and source of encouragement for our little swimmer and we are so happy we embarked on this journey of learning and mastery with this school!

Our 5 year old is still loving her swim lessons here. She started around 6 months. Our 1 year old is following suit. On his way to being pool safe. Karin and team are great with the kiddos (and their parents!). Having pool safe kids is great!

Love love love the best swim school and teachers in the area ! My kids are swimming there since 6 months old and are now 6! Years old … it’s our happy place in the pool ♥️

We’ve loved our years at Lis swimming school, excellent teachers, our 3 year old really looks forward to the lessons, and best of all, she has learnt excellent water safety techniques and is a confident swimmer.
